Coolio ... Matt has us taking Fogarty in his early PhantomLeft the Hawks about 3 years ago to take a position here as General Manager Of Football for the Ballarat Roosters VFL Team but was let go in December 2016 when the Club ran into deep financial strife, must say I've not seen him at any U18 matches I've attended for yonks so not sure he'd be in the loop any more to be a go to man on draft talent. Other than the pro recruiters I'd say Matt Balmer from AFL Draft Central sees more than most with regards to live TAC Cup, the Vic Private School games and U18's Championship games.
We should have waited an hour or two and given Carlton 12 and 16 rather than 10 and 16 for GibbsAnd for the record those that think Carlton/SOS will take Fogarty before us...... I don't think he will given his penchant for lads that come through the Victorian Private School System which includes almost all the Victorian high end talent.

Imagine if Ben Simmons had taken up football instead of basketball.
He would be out of pocket hundreds of millions of dollars over his lifetime.
That really isn't helping things.
I wish he'd watched more of Burton (yes I know they didn't pick him because of Matthew Liptak's medical report)Hamish will know who our targets in the draft are and I'm sure he would have been in the loop and consulted right through the trade period.......and surprise, surprise unlike the group think on here Fogarty might not be his preferred No.1 target and even if he is he'd have a pretty fair idea who the other interested clubs were and where their picks fall. One things for sure and certain Hamish and his team would have watched a whole bloody lot more of Fogarty than anyone on here to form their opinion on.
Ruckmen usually only go in the first round if they look outstanding i.e Nick Nat and for today's game that usually means athletic and perceived X Factor.....I don't really see Hayes or CCJ in that vein although they are both handy up forward and I'd be disappointed if we used a 1st Round pick on a Ruckman personally. Get better value drafting a guy like Lloyd Meek who will go late or in the Rookie Draft who also played 3 games of VFL for the Ballarat Roosters coming up against AFL listed Ruckman and more than holding his own making the bests on 2 occasions as well as being a dominant Ruckman in the TAC Comp. A lot of the better Ruckmen have actually come off the Rookie list.
I just choked in my food. Getting Chris Yarran now would be the worst move in AFL history. Waste of a rookie spot if we got him on the list.I wonder given Smith’s injury and undertaking due diligence we would give Chris Yarran a call to see how he is travelling. If fit in mind and body he could be a wonderful fit for us off the half back flank. He would be a risk but might come relatively cheap and he could reunite with eddy. Everything would need to be right though
I think ROB is actually a solid back up ruckman on the list but I do agree on the Hunter call that he won't make the grade. CCJ would be the one id look at closely because he's a local boy and also has a fair bit of talent in the ruck and up forward. Love his mobility and marking prowess. You make a compelling argument, but we have been trying that route with ROB and Hunter for a fail IMO. The 2 kids I mentioned are the pick of this year's bunch by all reports. I think it's time to perhaps reach a bit and take one this year and let ROB or Hunter go. If we were to take one late Meek is obvious choice but there would be the real possibility someone would take him before our pick 77. I watched this years championships and Hayes really stood out to my eye. CCJ is not that far below him so either of those 2 would be my pick.
Never use an early pick on a ruckman!I personal feeling is we badly need a quality young ruckman. I don't think ROB or Hunter are good enough so my pick would be Sam Hayes if he was there or CCJ. Fogarty I think will be long gone. I'm the first to admit I have no detailed knowledge of the kids but I just go on where I perceive there to be a weakness on our list.
We have 3 very good young mids in the SANFL coming along very nicely in Gallucci, Poholke and Signarello. With Gibbs coming in we are now set for mids in my view. Likewise defenders. Nice mix we have back there and waiting to come in.
Some phantoms have him all the way down at 15. I think he would be ideal for GWS tbh, and they should take him.I've only seen highlights but any chance Higgins is still available at 12?
Small, but seems to have good pace and hands. Can't do much more than win the Morish medal! Might even play a few ganes next year as a small fwd
No I'm talking late draft bahahaha. No ruck this year is worth pick 12 unless you count Ballenden as a ruck and even that is a stretch.Pick 12???
Every time I've watched CCJ in the Ruck he doesn't look to have much of a natural leap on him usually using bodywork more so than leap, not really sure that will translate into being a top Ruck in the AFL against the bigger bodies and some of the more athletic Ruckmen like Ryder, Grundy , Nick Nat, Martin etc he'll be up against in the AFL system. Wouldn't be against taking him with pick 39 if still on the board but pick 12 is a stretch too far for me.

Little bit of Jarred Brennan about Kreuger IMO - Except it looks like he has good handsNathan Kreuger - South Adelaide Panthers [Athletic Utility] or Charlie Ballard - Sturt F.C. [Tall Wingman/Half Back]
