Just read on the MB that Lukosius is a massive flight risk and will be back in Adl in 2 years if drafted interstate.

Any one know anything about this flight risk?

*hopes feverishly for truth behind it*
Matty whatever you read about underage players being stars of the draft next year you can take with a grain of salt .......every year this is said about players, the tend to drop the next year .....players like Sellars, Coleman_Jones last year, and Gallucci (rated top 5 in UA year)

At his 3rd club??

Sooner use a rookie spot on Lachie Murphy or young SA lads like Stefan Giro, Mitch Crowden, Alex Martini etc if they miss out in the main draft.

Only 23. I actually think he has some good skills. De Melbourneise him. In the right environment you never know. Might even fill a bit of the cameron role if he comes on. Left footer too. That's just my opinion though. No worse than Port getting Watts.

I wouldn't bother.

Similar issues with both clubs he's been at.

Use a rookie on someone who really wants it.

The more I think about it the less likely I think it is we will draft Fogerty. He seems to pretty much be that tweener key forward. 193cm strong etc... BUT I'm not sure he can push in to the middle long term. The question then - is he good enough to be a key forward in the future?

I wouldn't be surprised if we pick a breakaway paced mid at #12 (basically best available). Then Edwards (solid skilled mid) with the next pick.

In 2018 then, I think we will look to package up our first round picks, possibly with a 2019 pick or even someone like JJ to get in a position to draft Lukosious. That way we have bulked up the midfield and set the forward line for the future. Could be a smart strategy. As good as Rankine is, I don't think he is the type of player we would go for at the pointy end of the draft.

Or we believe Fogerty is a genuine gun and can be a key forward in which case we draft him this year and go for Rankine the following year.

I suspect however that as a forward we rate Lukosious much higher than Fogerty and as such will go for the strategy of mid this year and forward next year.

I can't see us taking Fogerty this year and then trying to grab Lukosious next year.

Someone on the main board called it Fogarty is a Stringer type, a freak but is limited to how much you can run him

If fogarty is available at pick 12 we are their with bells on, would be moronic not to
Even if we rate Lukosious a better player and have every intention of going hard for him next year? The way I hear it we absolutely love Lukosious.
Could we find spots for both? Would it be a waste?

Would be a good start, I cant see it happening with all three, clubs will not be overly impressed with Fogerty with his form and the fact he is a flight risk Macpherson is around about where h e should go, although I think hes a pretty big Port Fan unfortnatly
So was Brodie Smith.

The 192-193cm key forwards can still generally do very well, it's the 196-200cm tweener types that can be very hit and miss. The hits are great, the misses are pretty woeful though. Clubs are increasingly going to be looking at having more mobile 2nd/3rd talls, to go along with that 1x 200cm target.

From what I've seen, although admittedly not a heap, of Fogarty, I think he's absolutely got midfield potential as well. Seems to have the balance, mobility and ground ball ability, along with that natural hardness to make the most of his big body through the midfield. It wouldn't be straight away, but if he's available, I'd start him up forward in the SANFL with graduallly increasing bursts through the midfield.

The risk and perhaps the main reason he may fall to us, is this is all largely unproven and he had a poor carnival. Clubs also tend to focus more on the TAC cup as that's where the bulk of the talent is. The whole "go home" theme of the Trade Period may help us as well.

Then you have the risk of missing out

We have no chance of getting a top 5 pick unless sloane leaves or ourselves or Melbourne fail this year

I see Fogarty as a big bodied mid like Patrick Cripps. Don't think we'd play him forward.

Absolutely. Walkers turning 28 at the start of next year, Jenkins 29, need to start planning for their retirement now. Lynch is a Victorian, whilst I feel it's unlikely, he may decide to return to Victoria at the end of his current contract, certianly he'll receive decent offers to do so. He also turns 28 next year. The end can come quickly.

There's no guarantees with drafting, you're better off having surpluss than the opposite.

James Sellar dominates his first SANFL game at 16/17, there's no assurances Lukosius actually amounts to anything.

Would no club trade pick 10 and 16 (2018) plus 2019 first round pick (16) for Pick 3 (2017) and 2nd round pick in 2019?

Or;

OUT:
Pick 10 (Melb), Pick 16 (ours) 2018, Josh Jenkins
IN:
Pick 1-3, Pick 20

Would North or Gold Coast be interested in that?

Fogarty can also play back and actually played that position best during the u18 champs when hampered by knee.

I know people have concerns with him but he is very versatile and IMO has the best opposite side kick this year. It's hard to tell which side he prefers.

That's a big statement re the kicking, Lochie O'Brien is a pretty nifty kick on both feet, Nick Coffield also and Hunter Clark is another that it's almost impossible to tell what his preferred side is.
O'Brien looks the best kick. Hunter Clark, although confident, seems inconsistent to me. Being an inside mid with more pressure on him doesn't help that. Coffield looks nice too but has that extra space to work in.

You see a lot more than me Bicks. I'd be happy with Hunter or Fogs.

What do you make of the rumors we are into Naughton?
