Agree, we should take the player with most X factor at 3 and disrupt the projection thereafter.
A quality midfielder should be there at 10, either or Cerra , Brayshaw, Higgins, LDU a few options.
I’d almost bet my house that of those whom you speak of, only Higgins may be there at 10. The others will be long gone. Agree with X factor (Rayner or Fogarty) but the others won’t fall.

I want two of Rayner, LDU, Dow, Fogarty, Coffield, and Brayshaw. If we get that I'll be very happy.
Rayner and Fogarty would be a sensational haul. Talk about an x factor overload.

I've been thinking the same HBF.

There are plenty of solid mids every year.

I have no problem overloading on X factor this year if they are available at our picks.

If these guys are as good as stated (Rayner rated top 3 by most people and Fogarty rated #1 by Buckenara) - combined with Harry and Charlie what a nightmare for opposition teams?

General question regarding Harry
Can the experts here give me their thoughts on if harry will make it (probs way too early) but how they think he’s tracking at this point in his early career ?

Is he quick over first 20 or average
Is he a pack mark or leading mark
How’s his kicking action?

Firstly I'm not an expert - that's why we employ SOS.

Harry seems very quick over first 20m, can take a pack mark, tackles with conviction, is surprisingly good "below his knees" for a guy who is 204cm tall and has healthy dose of mongrel about him.

FWIW - given he just kept growing after we drafted him I reckon he would make a sensational ruckman in the future - time will tell on this possibility.

He's athletic first and foremost (including a 14.1 beep test at his combine), but he's not shy to use his frame and grow his game:

For his height he's fast enough on the burst and in general play. His big strength is his competitiveness and pack crashing.

Showed a heap at AFL level too, outbodied a great young defender in Andrews and was kicking them straight from set shots and on the run.

He'll be a 'build the forward line around him' type. Injury and form maybe kept him in the VFL too long but he was obviously one of those types that thrives on the bigger stage.

If he stays fit we should force him in the side and play him in the seniors as much as possible.

Feel like it will be us or the saints who take Bonar as we both have two picks available in the first 10 and can afford to roll the dice. Freo unlikely to chase him given they'll take a KPP.

It's interesting if a club has two early picks there might be a temptation to roll the dice with the second. Wonder if that happens. As much as I like Bonar I'd have thought we are not at a stage we should be taking risks. That said if the club medicos think he's fine then I guess that's a load off.

I keep seeing this but I don't understand the notion after a slightly deeper look.

Saints need an elite general defender, an elite key position option and elite pace and kicking through midfield. While they have some of those options developing on their list, they need more insurance and I don't think Bonar really fits those categories better than most of the top 15 candidates that will still be on the board. Can see them taking one of Coffield, Brander or Naughton and whichever one of Stephenson, Cerra, Dow or Brayshaw is still on the board.

Bonar is more brute force and a lead-up forward option, so just piles on top of what they already have in abundance. The teams stopping us from nabbing him are the Pies and the Dogs, depending on how they see their midfield mix and other candidates at that point in the pool.

EDIT: Hunter Clark might be an option too if they believe in his athletic tools.

After watching Darcy Fogarty's highlights, I see a lot of similarities when he plays defence as Matthew Watson in his draft year. Most won't like this comparison but he is a bit of a man-child, reads the play well, has a good kick on him and also has a large melon.
Having said that, I like him in the midfield. He has a habit of hand balling behind his teammate, but that can be worked on. He's not quick but he finds space with a neat little step and change of direction and is strong over the ball. He would be a very handy addition to our midfield & similarly to SPS was a highly rated 17 year old that struggled a little in his draft year, meaning we could pick him up for a bargain at pick 10.
