I think that picks 7-9 will shape who we are after at pick 10 big time. It is even possible that Rayner could be taken in the first 2 picks depending on the clubs trusting that he would not rack off after his contract is up. I actually hope that we take Dow ahead of him as we need more pace and run in the middle of the ground imo. Brayshaw is moving up the charts faster than a Beatles single so he may do a McGrath/Taranto from last year with the Lions a possibility.......once again the interstate teams just have to trust the interviews they had with these kids as to whether they hang around or not. Dow is not keen to move interstate apparently even though the Lions like him. Like you said I think Freo take Naughton pick 5 and Col takes Brander or Balta with 6, but after that the Saints and the WB are a toss up, although you would think the Saints pick 8 is likely to be a KPD as they are quite thin down there. Would love any of D.Fogarty/Bonar or Coffield to be available at pick 10, especially if we take Dow with him being a smaller mid..........Not that keen on Constable with us already having Crippa and Kennedy as strong but slower types in the middle. Fogarty/Bonar can both play forward and Coffield as a running Def/Mid as he has plenty of toe. I have never been that keen on "best available" policy because you can end up with a list full of same types..........as in what we had during the Ratten/Wayne Hughes period........we had too many flankers and not a good balance at all.
Surely Saints take a KPD and a silky MID (Josh Kelly type) with picks 7/8.
They have plenty of "grunt" players already - they need class in the middle and are desperate for a young KPD.
I would be surprised if they didn't do this.
