I reckon that we are probably looking for two midfielders, two forwards out of the draft.

Therefore the first 10 picks will strongly impact our later picks.

Let's say we take Rayner than Bonar.

Great, really high ceiling talents, but if you were going to reasonably project where they play in the next 5 years, you'd call them forwards.

So then at 30 your looking at:

Moore, Fogarty, Worpel, Ainsworth, Bailey, Mynott, Roughsedge

And then later I would look at a mature draftee for the midfield depth.

It has to buyer beware if thinking about taking a guy who at 18 years of age has already had 2 knee reco's .... is there any precedent of other players being taken top ten who had that sort of a run of injury?

I don't think this draft should be about risky picks for us - I think we have enough x factor in SPS, Pickett, Charlie .... I'd like to see two really solid picks at 3 and 10 - not speculators 'with huge upside' but might not come on.

Jake Stringer - Severe broken leg
Jake Lever - Knee Reco
Joel Selwood - Knee
Chris Judd - two shoulder reco's

Most of them barely played the year prior to being drafted.

Leaning towards Bonar. If Hmac is out injured and Bonar comes on as hoped, He along with Charlie could caus massive headaches for defenders and also gives our fwd line an extremely versatile and mobile look about it.

Dow 3
Bonar 10
Roughsedge 30

Good examples and I take your point.

I'm nervous about an 'icing on the cake' type pick at 10 (with 2 knee reco's behind him) when I feel we need to be building some rock solid midfield depth.

I still feel we're in a phase where we need a little bit of conservatism - not gamble on a high risk / high reward type player at 10.

On Bonar:

I went to school with Dante Exum for 3 or so years and he gave footy a go for little while and he was just exceptional, no doubt because he was physically on another level to his teammates. The speed and physical dominance of Bonar reminds me of Dante. Of course, Dante was very dicey when it came to the technical aspects, something which Bonar is better at.

You can just see with Bonar that once he enters the system he'll become HUGE, he has the frame.

Could literally become anything.

Dream scenario would be Cerra & Bonar.
Dante dropped 25 points on me in a half when he was 4 years younger than me. He was definitely on another physical level to me.

I used to play table tennis for inter-school sports during the 'summer' period and we would play in the same locations as the basketball team so I had a great opportunity to watch him closely.

In short, as you say, it was an absolute piss take. I swear he could dunk by year 7 or 8. Felt sorry for his opponents.

Seriously why the love for Bonar looks very average to me and there's no way in hell id waste a top 10 pick on him there would be at least 10 other players id take before him on pure football ability id have Bonar in 30 to 40 draft range

Lol.. Are you serial?

Yeah whys that? I just wasnt that impressed by his highlights for some reason
Not saying his not worth a punt just not at 10

If Brayshaw and Clark are gone I think we will get Bonar.
