Was that the year about this time we heard we were interested in Ed Vickers Willis?

I didn't rate him at all

Think I wanted Menadue & McDonald
Or Blakely & Menadue

I was happy when we got Daniel, didn't think we'd pull the trigger
Yeah, I wasn't interested in Vickers Willis probably because we were going to take Cordy more then anything. I thought they were similar types. I think we were pretty keen on Daniel Nielson as well, but North selected him just before our first two picks.

I remember not being overly happy with the draft at time. The McLean and Dale selections were the only ones I really loved. I wasn't fussed either way with Webb. I didn't rate Hamilton, his U18 footage and even his highlight video was very ordinary. I thought Daniel was too small to make it.
So it's probably turned out better then I thought it would. Our rookie draft was a shambles though.

Cordy was a bargain
Think we bid on Harris Andrews to?

But EVW I thought was a diagusting kick

I liked Nielson to and didn't remember Hamilton sticking out or Webb that much

Apart from his goals.
Wondering if he starts getting developed as a forward

He's been put just about everywhere else.

No idea if we placed a bid on Harris Andrews.

Dillon Viojo-Rainbow was another name that I think we were linked to? Thank God we missed out on him.

I usually get a mad Bonar for one or two for no particular reason and end up being disappointed.

I was melting down one year because we picked Caleb Daniel and didn't get Reece "the beast" Mckenzie... another year I was anxious for Toumpas to slide to us. There's a catalogue of stupidity in our draft threads...lol such an expert.

By that logic Stephenson Is a guaranteed bust.
Remember the extraordinary melts on here when we didn't select Matthew Panos with our first pick, #15, in the 2009 Draft? We chose Christian Howard, which is a story for another day.....

So then we proceed to pass on Under 18 All Australian Full Forward, S.A. Captain, Matt Panos with each successive pick. And so did everyone else. Panos went undrafted that day and we eventually selected him with pick #43 in the Rookie Draft.

Panos had been highly rated in every Mock Draft going around and all of the U18 Champs watchers were flabbergasted at how far he slid.

Matthew Panos never played a senior AFL game in two years on the Rookie List and was delisted at the end of the 2011 season.

The biggest draft "slider" I can remember.

Speaking of Blues players

Clem Smith
The one Kevin Sheehan described as a Rolls Royce
Not even over two years on an AFL list

I think the poor kid struggled being away from his foster family in WA. Was a terrier in his year before being drafted and made the AA team iirc. Draft year was pretty average after looking like an early pick the year before.

I used to watch a lot of WAFL a few years back. Wanted Dayle Garlett to be drafted by us so bad. One of the most promising talents I'd seen in years. Ce la vie.

Random one was Blaine Boekhurst. Despite his obvious short comings i thought he'd be a solid recruit for the new Footscray VFL team. 18 months or so later Carlton burn their end of first round on him ffs. Lol.

Everyone on BF had us drafting him, apparently we were never interested as we didn't rate his kicking under pressure.
One of those types that looks beautiful when given time and space but you rarely get time and space at AFL level.

I really want one of our picks this year to have goal-kicking mid potential. We really need one.

Really like Lochie O'brien highlights video. Is he explosive?
The boffins on the D&T board think he's quick and has some of the best kicking skills in the draft, knock on him is he's very outside.
Might be a JJ type. I could handle another Norm Smith medalist on our list :)

We could do with some outside, strong runner clean user of the ball: lachie whitfield-style.

Not sure if he’s super quick, just a masssive tank. His comparison to gaff is apt but I reckon he’s a better kick

Without knowing anything about these kids Darcy Fogarty just seems to make sense for us with Stringer and Crameri gone. I actually think natural forwards who can kick well into the 50 are a bigger need than rebounding backs to replace Bob and Boyd.
We owe it to big Tommy and Schache.
