Tested very well. Seems like he's got plenty of upside as he only started playing footy 3 years ago as well. Some on here (like Chris25) have argued that Shipley will end up a better player then Constable and I can now sort of understand why after watching few of his videos. Doesn't seem overly clean though, fumbles quite a bit in those videos.

It was about the time of the bigfooty trial run where whoever picked Shipley made that claim and I put he and Constable side to side. At the time I saw a lot more upside in Shipley and I think he quietly had a pretty good year too. Spent time in the GWS reserves where he performed well. Combine testing showed that combination of elite speed and endurance that when combined with proven performance throughout the year and some contested ball winning ability gives you a lot of confidence in a draft prospect taking the next step. Compared to Constable he may not be as sure a thing but he has more upside given his relative lack of experience and his athletic ability.

It's a combination, at this point clubs don't necessarily draft for needs or best available rather they draft the player they think is best fit. Needs will always be considered when trying to determine this and it happens at each pick. Weitering/Schache draft is most interesting. Do they pick Weitering if their KPD stocks are great? I am not convinced, despite him being consensus no. 1.

Thoughts from TAC Cup watchers on Matthew McGannon?

He looked ok the times I have seen him, not that I've seen a lot of the Gippsland Power kids. Here's his inside footy profile

"Matthew is four days off being a bottom-aged player so is very young in relation to some other kids. He's doing Year 11 this year so will be at school in 2018 even if he gets drafted. A smooth mover with great foot skills, he's a midfield/wing type and at this stage is more of an outside player. He played on some good opponents this year and beat them, he played well in the Young Guns game and was ok in the All Stars match played on AFL Grand final day at the MCG. He's already running AFL patterns as a midfielder but will need to develop his contested ball winning at the next level. I think he's a good chance to go mid to late in the draft." - Gippsland Power coach Leigh Brown

When I was reading up on him it said that he went in injured at the combine and that impacted his results

Aaron Redhead could become a cult hero and a commentator’s dream if he finds his way on to an AFL club list this month.

But the determined 203cm forward-ruckman is much more than just his name and matching hair colour.

Redhead has gone from complete unknown playing for the Killarney Vale Bombers on the NSW Central Coast to potential draft bolter in just 12 months.

The 19-year-old has surprised even himself with his rapid progression since packing his bags and moving to Perth by himself at the end of last year to pursue his football dreams. Redhead always had the football bug while living in NSW, but his career was going nowhere.

He moved in with his grandparents in Perth and joined the East Perth colts, where his talent didn’t go unnoticed. Redhead made the WA under-18s squad and played in the win over Vic Country at Etihad Stadium.

“Coming from country footy in NSW and then coming over and in one year playing in Melbourne and getting coached by AFL coaches and talking to AFL clubs, it’s been awesome,” he said.

“I thought it’d take longer but I’ve adjusted very well.”

Six clubs have interviewed Redhead and his stocks soared again after his performance at the State Draft Combine last month.

Redhead defied his size to record a 7.91sec. agility test and 2.94sec. in the 20m sprint — both personal bests.

He is determined to add bulk to his frame over summer without losing any of his athleticism.

His colts coach Adam Pickering said Redhead was a freak athlete who would be the ideal rookie selection.

“He did most of the pre-season with the league boys but would be in the top five or 10 per cent in all the endurance stuff,” Pickering said.

“On game day we saw glimpses of that agility and speed. Sometimes he’d pick the ball up and look at midfielders and burst away. It was pretty remarkable for a boy of that size.

“At the next level I’d probably see him playing as a second tall or even a third tall who could pinch hit in the ruck. If he was put around some bigger key forwards he’d create a real mismatch.”

As for constant ribbing about his name, Redhead has never had a problem.

“When you’ve got red hair and your last name is Redhead people are going to notice you, whether you’re playing well or not,” Redhead said. “It’s something you’ve got to take in your stride. You’ve just got to embrace it and make it your own.”

Seeings as I can't surprise anyone with the pick because giblj guessed the player I might pick someone else if they last. Just wanted to get a little bit of talk up about the guys who did well at the state combines.

His pace seemed ok out on the field. I wouldn't have his ball use down as great or anything, his decision making wasn't the best. I'm no expert on him though, haven't really seen enough to form a strong opinion.

I have noticed over the lasr few years that players who have performed well at the State or Rookie Me combines have been picked up by us in the draft. Lewis Young, Bailey Williams, Fergus Greene all did pretty well in some area at the state combines.

If he's got the work ethic, and making the decision to move across the country shows that he wants it, then he's a player worth a late pick given his athletic and physical profiles. Not sure what his skills are like. What about his vertical? No point being tall/fast if you can't use your height/length.

Impressive, whatever else he can or can't do. People will go to games to see that sort of player.

I don't see it working out myself. We've never been good with indigenous player's for a start and Ryan isn't the most committed type of character it seems. There's reports he missed a few training sessions during the year and turned up late to preseason training. He's got a couple kids as well so there is some pretty significant go home factor.
