You lose me after the first one lol. I don't think that Richards will be on the AFL radar unless he comes and stars in a half decent league.

9 - Nick Coffield (bob replacement)
26 - James Worpel (we need speed and power in the center)
39 - Gryan Miers (Goalzzz)

Try and get another pick around 40 and pick up Hugh Dixon (more goalzzz).
Is Worpel really likely to drop down that far? Seemed like only a couple months ago he seemed top 10-15 material

Is there no interest here for Toby Wooller. 193cm forward who goes through the midfield. Would have thought he would be ideal for us. Seems projected to go in early to mid 2nd round.

We talked about him during the champs, but not much love since

Him or Allen would be nice in the second

So whats the reason for the drop off do yo think. You dont hear much in discussions lately has there been some issues?

Looking at the draft order on the AFL website it states GWS forfeit their first pick because of the Whitfield drug issue last year, so for the first time the plastics don't have a pick in he first round.

Is Khamis likely to play as a forward or defender?
He will swing around like all our players. Reckon he'll be a defender most of the time though.
I'm guessing Gryan rotates in the midfield?
A little bit. Genuine threat around the sticks and can run all day though so you'd consider playing him mostly as a SF.

Not sure Worpel really has speed that we're looking for. He's another sub-par kick too, like Dunkley. I wouldn't be too keen on us taking another questionable kick to slot into the best 22 - it won't improve our delivery inside 50.

I feel like players like Liam Ryan and bailey fritsch will be on our radar
Tim Kelly sounds more like us as a mature forward.

Not really it is just I have been talking about other forwards that played well in the champs. Has had a pretty consistent year at Oakleigh so he has a chance.

Jong, Bont, Dunkley, Macrae

That is all our inside mids who have some actual size, and I'm being generous in including Macrae who plays mostly outside. We played most of the year without two of them and struggled to contain teams bursting out of the center breaking tackles ad nauseam.

Worpel is cover for those guys who are injury prone.

I'm not convinced Coffield will last until pick 9...
Is there a plan B?
Do we contemplate trading picks 9 & 26 with Brisbane for 14 & 18 to get two inside top 20?

I'd rather 9 & 26, have to just back Dal

We'll know more risers after the combine in October

1 -
9- Charlie Constable
26 - Ed Richards or Matthew Ling
2 - this is an even draft so there is no real point in doing so

I'd be upset if Constable was the best we could do at 9.

Constable is similar to types we have taken top 10 in the past. BA has him ranked at 3.

Hayes - who takes rucks this early now day
Garner - The other possibility. Want to see how his contested game stacks up though.
Brayshaw - exactly like 90% of our midfield group

Something tells me that we'll place a bid on Brisbane's Academy player, if one hasn't been put on earlier

Clayton is still Gold Coasts recruiter, so he'll probably do something funky with his pick and a few talls might help another midfielder to our pick

Someone like Cerra/Coffield

How do people feel about Cerra though?

There's some similarities between our top 10's, but I think there's some huge differences as well. Macrae was side stepping guys that weren't there, taking them on, was kicking a lot of goals (hard to believe now) and had loads of upside. His 20m sprint time was very impressive as was his agility. Bont, similar and had very good agility and endurance. Stringer had X factor in spades, upside and speed.

What all of these guys had was huge upside, X-factor and athletically they were pretty good. Constable doesn't compare IMO. He has very little upside, virtually no X-factor and nothing stands out athletically. Personally I think we can do better and I'm surprised someone has him going at pick 3.

BA doesn't have him going 3, he rates him the 3rd best player personally

He has been busy doing other things for a couple of years now, but he'd have good knowledge of which players some clubs are into

I'm massive on Cerra. He runs a very, very close second to Coffield for who I'd want at 9. I see so much Pendlebury in him, feel he's the most likely of anyone in the draft to be a success.

I simply don't agree with this. I think he's in the top 5 most competent inside mids in the whole pool. He has size and knows how to lots of contested ball consistently even when he's played in defence for the bulk of the last two years. His skills, for a genuine inside mid, are excellent and he has above-average contested marking for his height. This combination of factors shows, to me, that he has enough upside to become an A-grader, for sure. His athleticism is completely fine, as well. It's no hindrance to his game. Poor athleticism has never stopped us from taking players in the past, i.e. Dunkley, Webb, even Collins, and Constable's speed and agility far surpasses that of those guys.

Also how would we get the No.1 pick because we need our pick next year for West who is currently sitting in the top 10 for next years crop.
Next year is supposed to be an excellent year, however with West in the pipeline (and the reports I've seen have him playing well as an under-ager) would we consider trading away next years' first rounder for a first round pick this year? Perhaps we could pick up an extra 2018 second rounder to make up some of the points difference for bidding on Rhylee.

Know we have that Khamis kid next year, but do we have any academy kids this year who are a chance to be selected or to receive a bid from another team? Also any more than just Khamis next year?
