What's this McCartin like?

I reckon we will nab 11 from essendope for stringer. 9 and 11 could net us some really good prospects. Who do you guys want? Id love a small, crumbing forward and a skillful mid.

I wouldn't be tearing my hair out if we took Balta with pick 11. I think it's definitely a reach but I trust that if we see enough genuine footballer potential in him we could make it work. Darcy Fogarty I would have a problem with.

I'm not ready to give up on Coffield at 9. Of him, Cerra and Brayshaw he would be the most likely to slip out of the top 8, especially if Hayes goes to Freo and someone like Brander, Bonar or Fogarty bolts. Behind Coffield, Cerra and Brayshaw, I'm most keen on Constable or Clark, and I agree with Wizard (I think) that a safe/risky double selection could be the go if we get 11. Reckon Bonar, Clark, Allen, Richards or maybe, maybe Balta could be good secondary options at 11, if we take Constable.

What about if it is Lachie Fogarty?

At least Balta will have a highlight reel to leave our fans salivating, there is a couple highlights of him flying through the air taking marks that are just...wow.

I originally thought it was, what with him being a high-production Dogs supporter, but Darcy seems to get more attention as a first rounder. I would honestly be thrilled if we were comfortable with taking L Fogarty in the first round, think he's an exceptional talent.

You blokes on this thread know your draft shit, and have done so for many seasons now.

So....

Can you please resolve the Schache argument.

Do we have a crack at getting him, what style does he play, and how would he work with Boyd?

Schache is better at ground level and is a good lead up mark at the footy. Not the fastest player out there but tends to always have both arms extended when going for a mark. Was a pretty good aerobic athlete as a junior if I remember correctly and stylisticly played a bit like Travis Cloke did in his prime (not now lol). Good set shot.

If we get Schache I think he will play CHF and Boyd will play deeper as a FF. Then keep a small forward line around them for pressuring.

You'd go for him?

For a pick in the teens on the same cash as he was at Brisbane? yes.

Would be the first time we have had a decent spine since.... I can't even remember lol.

And most importantly, IT IS YOUNG. Lots of room for growth.

Thanks.

If we got him, and we had a decent spine, I dunno if I could go for the Dogs anymore. It would seem so strange.....

I have some concerns with him partnering with Boyd, plus I've never thought he could be a dominant key forward at AFL.

My main concern is he's rather slow to get going. I really struggle to see him doing well close to goal for that reason. When one of the better defenders in Collins matched up on him close to goal for instance, he found it very hard to get in the game. He has to rely on his smarts and work rate to get by I think so he has to play mostly as a CHF. That's another problem I fear, in that he's quite limited in where he can play. He was used as a 2nd ruck as a junior, but I can't see it working out at AFL level. He was also quite horrible defensively and that was reflected in his dismal tackle numbers.

I think for it to work out with Boyd, we would need to have 3 or 4 pretty quick blokes running through the forward half which we don't have at the moment. It could work, but my preference would be to have someone more athletic and versatile partnered with Boyd.

Thanks. Seems a mixed bag and not the Messiah.

I think it is probably time to do so.
