"13. Aaron Naughton (WA)
Best position: Key defence
Height, weight: 194cm, 84kg
Recruited from: Peel Thunder
Projected draft range: First to second round
Profile: It's early days, but it looks as though Naughton will be West Australia's best draft prospect and this year's best key defender. During his first three games this season, Naughton has taken 27 marks - including many intercepts. He is a good mover, looking comfortable with ball in hand, rarely getting caught and is also clean at ground level."

From Knightmares draft profiles. haven't seen him, but sounds like a type that could be around our range and I would consider based on that. The right size and the game smarts/intercept ability. Will come down to a question of winning one on one contests and kicking efficiency

Though most talk about forwards and our backline. Worpel is my currently my favorite at the moment, we do need another big bodied beast to bash and crash in the middle as we are a little undersized in that area, and now will rely on game smarts and the ability to win the hardball more often now that third man up advantage has been removed.

I don't think we could do wrong to get the best player available from nearly every position, I'd just be surprised if we took a ruck (maybe not a mature aged one later)

I really like Worpel, but what happened to my boy Clavirino? Haven't heard many mentions of the guy.

I feel like Clavarino's prospects are unchanged really. Still a good prospect. Would take a really bad form slump or injury to change where he stands in the draft order. Expect him to have a solid champs which will decide how high he is taken.

Is Cameron Rayner from the Western Jets looking good? Is he likely to slide to our pick? This is assuming we have pick 12-18?

At this stage, Rayner appears to be going top 10, even top 5. U18 Champs always count for a lot, so he could well be available at our pick by the end of the year, but it looks unlikely.

Performance after the championship is something else we seem to like looking at

Bontempelli/Macrae/Stringer
& I'm sure I'm forgetting others

So there is a Thomas Boyd and bailey Williams who are draft eligible this year? Our list could get really confusing really quick...

After last night I think that it is becoming quite obvious we lack forward options. Look at the goal kickimg forwards we have atm by category (age at end of the year in brackets)

Small: Tory Dickson (30)
Medium: Jake Stringer (23), Fergus Greene (20), Stewert Crameri (29)
Tall: Travis Cloke (30), Tom Boyd (22), Nathan Mullenger McHugh? (20)

Apart from the maybe the mid sized guys we are going in pretty thin on goal kickers.

Does it look like we'll develop Lipinski as a medium forward? I feel that would give him the best chance of making it at AFL level, and he seemed good in VFL round 1 with 4 goals.

I think where our lists age profile is at that we will consider some mature aged options at the draft for some near ready replacements (like Dickson was). Redpath will return to, so it'll be interesting to note how he plays after such a long time off.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Young is used as forward in the future & playing in defense is just part of his early development.

He played vfl rd1 in fwd line but Rd 2 he played a little higher up the ground before injury. I think he'll play a similar role to McLean.

Liking the look of Garner and Miers for Geelong atm. Both look like they could have AFL qualities. Parish has his moments and Worpel is a gun.

For Oakleigh Higgins has been good but Wooller has been quiet

Parish, Worpel, Floyd and Ling all good for the Falcons. Garner had a good start and faded out. Gyran Miers is a gun, he is strong enough to nearly always keep his hands free and does not go to ground, tackles like he is possessed and doesn't fumble at all and smart with his ball use kicked 3 but could have had 5 with a bit more luck.

For Oakleigh Higgins, Wooller, Cunningham and Searle played well but again it was a little fella who caught the eye again in Jordan Troani kicked 3 goals and was very lively using his pace to break lines and put in lots of multiple efforts to lock the ball up.

Any lesser-known names impress for Oakleigh?

Apart from Troani it was mostly the players who are better known that impressed me, maybe Anthony Larkey but not many screamed AFL at me. Geelong had a better spread of players I lightly penciled in.

Atu Bosenvualagi might be one to watch for next year.

Greater Western Victoria Rebels wtf? Why did they change their name? Its horrible and a mouthful to say. Makes it look like they are sponsored by the GWS Giants who I cannot stand :mask:
