Tend to agree more with this, I am not super high on Hayes and given English slipped well outside the top 10 I think Hayes slips further. Also have reservations with Constable about his athleticism and how damaging he is with his disposal, especially by foot. Has done enough to go early but don't see him having as high a ceiling as most of the others that should go early.

Constable reminds me of Cripps or Kennedy. Reckon he'll be a beast of an inside mid in time. That is why he will go high.

Hayes depends on what clubs view him as. Either KPF or Ruck.

Other top ten chances who haven't been mentioned: Aaron Naughton, Andrew Brayshaw, Joel Garner, Patrick Naish, Jack Higgins, Lochie O'Brien, Noah Balta, Hunter Clark. Not saying any of these will be but there's a chance.

I don't see him as a midfielder. Doesn't have the ability to win much contested ball, and I'm not certain it's something that will improve. It's not a dealbreaker, but if we see him as that I'd question whether we should be selecting him. I think he's an exceptional medium forward who would be a very difficult matchup for defenders with his vertical leap and general athleticism, but whether that's enough for a likely 8-12 pick isn't for me to decide. Personally, I think he's been too inconsistent this year for us to select him, and hasn't quite shown sustained capacity to compete as an impact outside mid, but could become a very good undersized marking forward. His end to the year will be very important to his draft ranking.
Believe it or not though, his contested vs uncontested ball at TAC cup level is pretty much dead even. My question marks over him are more to do with consistency, and his effectiveness when played in that inside role. Has a slightly unusual kicking style but saw at the champs that he can dominate a game when he's switched on. This season he has spent learning a new role so he can be forgiven for not playing that role perfectly. I think I want to see him have a strong finish to the year to solidify a spot in the top 10. I don't think he is a great inside midfielder at this stage but to suggest he doesn't win much contested ball is just not true. Half forward probably still his calling but this year has been a good year and he's shown improvement playing a different position so he is more draftable now than he was earlier in the season.

there will the game just before the grand final to, that may see some players shoot up as was the case with Cockatoo

I think Brayshaw and O'Brien are definite chances to go top 10. Personally I am a big fan of Balta as well so wouldn't surprise me if he went fairly early. I like him as a key forward and don't see him playing ruck much at AFL level so I think this year has been a waste at times for him.
Very interested in Bonar's finish to the year to see how high he can push himself up the ranks.

Balta won't go that high. Too many ???
Some wank club will probably pick up Balta, like GWS and everyone will fall in love with his athletic ability for a tall but he won't actually be playing well & we'll hear how we should've recruited him in our list management thread even though he doesnt have the performances to back it up ;)

I think he will have to be a really good inside mid to justify early selection, has the ability to end up a Michael Barlow type.

As a ruck I am not picking Hayes early at all, as a key forward he seems to move like a Ben Brown but without really stretching out and reaching the ball at its highest point like Ben does. Statistically has had some decent games and his kicking is pretty nice for a 200cm player but I think he's a bit slow and maybe a bit soft to really be a great key forward

Fair enough. What I'd seen of him at the U18 Champs and a little throughout TAC Cup didn't appear strong contested ball-winning traits, but I'll take your word for it.

Very much agree re. Constable. He's also able to slot into defence easily, giving him valuable versatility to allow him to play in his first year. Behind Cerra and Coffield, he's the guy I'd really like us to look at with our first.

*cough* Todd Marshall *cough* *cough* Harry McKay *cough* (and to a lesser extent, Charlie Curnow)

Although, to be fair, production doesn't matter as much for KPDs, as long as they have enough game sense and excellent athleticism. I think Balta will succeed, but he's very risky to take early.

I have to admit I'm one of those people who rate Balta very highly based on what I believe he could become and produce in the future and rather than what he's put on the park to date. He's got that word everyone hates - 'potential' to burn.

I agree he's a massive risk for a pick inside top10. I'd be more comfortable picking him from 12 - 20 range. If we could get another pick in that range and still keep our first somehow that would be perfect. But I wouldn't be unhappy if we pulled the trigger on him earlier, he's a special talent. Can play all over the ground - a Bev prototype.

Would Brander be a possibility to last to our pick and would he be a good fit. Was talking to a tac talent manager the other day that said he is good enough to be number 1 pick.

On what I saw of Balta late last year, his best footy was as good as anyone I'd seen of the current crop. I guess the issue is his worst footy is pretty bad, his ball use can be especially bad. I think if he interviews well he could push into the top 10, but I tend to think he will be a late first to 2nd rounder.

While a little different, I've always seen Hayes as a lesser version of Peter Wright. I agree with JAMES_B_101 comments and would have him going late first.

I'm a Brander fan, I think he goes top 5. If not then, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't picked up by Collingwood. They are desperate for KPP's.

Big fan of Coffield, people are comparing him to Pendlebury (which basically translates to classy and evasive) but I think he moves more like Bob, plays behind the ball and works the angles beautifully. 190cm, still a bit skinny but that's to be expected.
Has a good step and serious pace, good mates with Patty Lipinski and is a dogs fan.
I think this year showed that we need multiple avenues out of D50 if teams are going to tag JJ, to me he looks like a great Bob replacement.

I get why Paddy Dow is enticing, but I feel on the whole, Coffield would improve our team a lot more. I doubt Dow would be able to step straight into our midfield, where he offers the most damage by far, whereas I reckon we could plug Coffield straight onto half-back and he'd be able to use his excellent marking, speed and ball movement right from the get-go. We're more pressed for skills and speed on the outside than we are for ball-winners inside, now and for years to come.
