Joel Amartey is one I want to keep an eye on in the next few games too. Raw and hasn't played much footy as others, but he is improving rapidly.

Definitely looks like he has some AFL qualities.

Would rather draft Nick Coffield/Ed Richards and send JJ forward.

He is a good footballer but he would just add to our size problems, isn't adding any leg speed or silky skills either.
I also doubt Higgins would fit into our midfield rotation much in the next few years - if we end up keeping Macrae, Bontempelli, Wallis, Jong, Dahl, McLean, Daniel and Liberatore he only fits in as a half-forward type, and we can get much better pure forwards later on or in the rookie draft.

Not sure if it's an omen, but while i was dining out tonight Cam Rayner walked past.

WAFC would like to congratulate Josh Smithson for winning the 2017 Torrens University Cup MVP Award.

Averaging 24 disposals and two goals per game, Smithson is the first Bloods player since Ryan Dijksman in 2012 to win the coveted trophy.

Josh was spotted on a West Adelaide zone trip to the Mallee when he was competing in a 9 a side competition. Originally from the Karoonda Football Club, the 18-year-old played a total of 14 U18 Torrens Uni Cup matches this year while also representing South Australia at the Under-18 AFL National Championships.

The goal kicking midfielder earned his Torrens Uni Cup MVP nomination after racking up 33 disposals, 10 clearances and three goals against Glenelg in Round 7.

Introduced in 2009, the MVP Award is presented to the best performing player in the Under-18 Torrens Uni Cup Competition.

One player is nominated for the Award each round throughout the home-and-away season, with the overall winner selected by a panel of judges chaired by SANFL Talent Manager Brenton Phillips.[/Spolier]

33 disposals, 3 goals and 10 clearances is a fair day out.

Averaging 2 goals and 20+ touches over 14 games is pretty good. Though it is SA U18's

Edit: found a couple more games of interest via my friend google.

For West Adelaide, Josh Smithson was clearly best with 29 disposals(22 of which were contested) three goals, 11 clearances, six inside 50s and nine tackles in a complete performance.

Josh Smithson
was also excellent with 27 disposals, nine marks, seven clearances and four goals.

In Westies 27-point win over North Adelaide, Josh Smithson was strong with 30 disposals, 10 inside 50s, nine marks and two goals.

Okay, I've settled on who I want at #9. Noah Balta.

He won't go top 10.

Too many ????? for that.

The clear top players in this pool are:

LDU
Cerra
Dow
Rayner
Stephenson
Brander
Higgins
Coffield
Constable
A.Brayshaw
Hayes

& maybe Ed Richards

There is quite a drop off after these players and I think it is very possible that this is going to be the top 11-12 come draft day. It is just not possible to work out the order in which they will fall.

I think Fogarty and Naughton are a good chance of going in the top 10 also. Maybe Bonar if he has a good end to the year, remember Cockatoo went top 10 on the back of one good game. Hayes probably drops down the order given he's a ruck.

Think a few too many players have gone past Fogarty for him to go top 10. Bonar has missed too much footy, he will go early but not too early.

Naughton is possible but I'd think that would be only maybe at Freo or Collingwoods pick if they are picking for need.

Agree that Hayes could drop but he would be on talent in that first group.

Surely not Hayes

Some of the vision from last year of Fogarty is pretty special, honestly would be a bit surprised if he didn't go top 10. I think that injury affected him more then people realise. I'm hoping we draft him.

Fair call on Bonar, I actually don't think he'll have a great end to the year anyway. Looked pretty unfit and tired on the weekend.

Which Fogarty guys?

Just curious what BF's thoughts are about Lynch, M-M and R. Smith. Are we likely to upgrade any of them to the main list this year? I'm not even going to bother asking about Tweedie.
