Is it a given Dow, LDU, Cerra and Rayner will be the 4 first picked (in no particular order)?

No

One of them might slip to 5 :p

But seriously, LDU is the only one that is playing out of that lot & I can see Cerra or Rayner dropping a bit. But to get to us, another club needs to go for a reach or needs. Naughtan to Fremantle for example.

not much hope for us with pick 9 then. So pretty much Stephenson, Darcy Fogarty and Coffield are next best for our pick?

I would say fairly confidently, yes.

If one of those lot dropped off to our pick, it would mean there is question marks over that player &\other players have to rise up, most likely via the combine.
I hope that for their sake it's not raining wherever they are

I guess if it was, they would just have to whether the storm..

Speaking of weathering the storm, LDU and the stingrays did a terrific job in the second half to overcome a 50+ point deficit. If the Lions are set on taking Dow at pick 1 then LDU is going to be a steal anywhere after that. Most likely to do a Wines/SPP and play majority of games next season out of this group I reckon. Would be a good fit at Gold Coast where he can surf all year round but would also get great opportunities at Carlton.

Stephenson has answered a lot of my question marks over him in the latter part of the season, although I would be higher on him if his disposal efficiency matched his improved ability to find/win the ball. Still a class finisher around goals but I still think his kicking looks a little bit funky. I'd still hope this year we put a slight weight on kicking, especially penetrating kicks at our picks to speed up our ball movement and hopefully improve our efficiency going inside forward 50.

Then we'd best be hoping clubs have question marks over Cerra's injury history.

Feel like Cerra could definitely slide out of the top 5 simply given his lack of exposure over the last two years compared to the other guys - that's what I'm hoping for at least. Not ready to cross Cerra off my list for pick 9 yet, but given the small likelihood of his availability I'm definitely hoping for Coffield and Stephenson now. Stephenson's production over the last month or so has gone to another level, which was my major concern around the time of the Champs. JAMES_B_101 has a point about his questionable kicking, but his speed, goal sense and ability to win the footy has addressed a lot of my concerns.

I guess if a few like Constable, Brander, Brayshaw, Naughton, Hayes, Fogarty go in the top 6 then it's a possibility. I'm not really holding out much hope for either Cerra and Stephenson though. I have a bit more hope for Coffield as I have very little confidence he will ever be a full time mid at the next level. Even then I think he's just about perfect for one of the Saints picks. At the end of the day it is a very even group in that 1 - 15 range, so anything could happen I guess and there's still a bit of the season to play out yet.

Somewhere a grammar nazi is gnashing their teeth.

One on that list from very, very left field. Hasn't played TAC cup or VFL.
Yep, he has obviously got someone's attention though. He would be averaging three or four goals a game in the seniors this season in a team that only won three or four games for the year.

I reckon North almost certainly picks Stephenson if Rayner is gone.

Think they'd want Cerra.

Freo or Collingwood might. St Kilda might.

Still if we miss out on Coffield and Stephenson then I am leaning very slightly toward Andrew Brayshaw. We don't have many burst mids.

I've liked what I have seen of A.Brayshaw, is he the over ager or is that Hamish?

With a lot of clubs needing players that can use the ball well, it wouldn't be a shock if Coffield went before our pick

Reading that depth article on afl.com.au the other day, seems every club could use a player that uses the ball well. I guess they can just be very hit or miss? Idk.

Hamish is 19, Andrew is not even 18 yet

Please tell me he is better than his brother ?
Angus Brayshaw is supremely talented, he's just been absolutely smashed by injury troubles and concussions. There's no reason to suggest that he doesn't have the ability to play at AFL level. Andrew plays in a very similar fashion, a bit more athletic but a bit smaller.

What I have seen of Angus , he will carve out a solid career baring injuries , but I don't see any elite traits with him. His awareness and decision making are not that great.
If the younger brother is similar --- pass , you will get another grunt mid in West next year.

What I like about Andrew is that ability to break clear from stoppages. Also shows more when he goes forward, gets into the right spots and makes good decisions kicking i50.

Andrew has a more rounded game. Wins it inside and out, uses it well by hand and foot (start of this year he averaged 26 touches at 83% de, pretty long kick too) and goes forward at times. Also got more of a burst.

Thanks Wiz.
Is there any chance Fogharty gets to us and is he a good fit considering we lose Stringer ?

Most likely he will be available for us however I worry a bit about his speed (3.03 20m) and endurance (12.10 beep). It isn't really any good at all and would be a big risk top 10.

Allen from WA is a way better fit.
