Anybody care to throw out some names/bios that may slide to the rookie draft?

Kai Owens - 191cm half forward/wingman who has the ability to mark very strongly over his head for his size. Has an elite VJ and Running VJ. Basketball background.

Hamish Brayshaw - Mid with the ability to go forward and hit the scoreboard. Hard as nails like his bros.

Josh Jaksa - 193cm half back with the ability to play small and tall. Athletic with very good closing speed and can intercept. Very brave player.

Josh Smithson - 186cm strong bodied inside midfielder who can also go forward and kick goals. Has good speed and gets good length in his kicks from next to no momentum. Won an award for being the best player in the SANFL U18's.

Aaron Trusler - 172cm small forward and the late December baby of this draft. Natural forward with the nous to find room where there is none. Has very good speed and agility.

Max Dreher - 183cm inside/outside midfielder with versatility to play off a back flank. Elite endurance runner - 16.1 beep at the start of the year - who has bulked up and has really improved his stoppage work. Strong production at TAC Cup and AGSV level, very clean skills.

Callum Porter - 181cm stoppage player, excellent production at TAC Cup level with impressive contested ball-winning ability and tackle pressure.

Alfie Jarnestrom - smaller inside midfielder who has developed a strong small forward game in the latter part of the year. Key midfielder for Brighton Grammar in the APS as well as having good production at TAC Cup level. Definitely room for improvement as a small forward which helps his case for AFL games.

Charlie Thompson - 183cm inside mid/small marking forward with a strong frame. Excellent production at APS and TAC Cup level with impressive workrate and goal sense. Adept at playing a role inside 50, and still is able to win the footy not at the coalface. Consider him very likely to make it at AFL level in some role.

Geordie Nagle - 185cm rebounding defender with elite production down back. Consistency at TAC Cup level this year was outstanding, and boasts genuine 50m+ kicking prowess. Unconventional kicking technique but is generally reliable with ball in hand. Has a strong frame and contested ability is no weakness.

Aaron Trusler - 170cm goalsneak with real zip and enthusiasm and strong defensive pressure. Pretty impactful on the scoreboard, very rare that he isn't creating 1-2 scoring shots for himself in any one game.

Those are just TAC Cup guys, could put up a few others outside of Vic if I put a bit more time into it.

I'd love us to pick up Jack Higgins. Natural forwards seem to be under rated in the draft. I've always loved the role of a true small/mid sized forward. I dont think its a coincidence over the years teams with efficient forward lines have had natural forwards like;
Mark Lecras / jack darling at the eagles
Robbie Gray at port
Eddie Betts at the crows
Toby Greene at GWS
Jack Darling / Luke Breust at the hawks.
Steve milne at the saints

Any chance Higgins slides to 16 because of his height? Or do we have to use 9 if we want him?

I'm still not convinced with Higgins, but a good mate of mine has started doing running with him and it's pretty clear that his workrate and tank is something pretty special. He really does appear to be the type that, no matter what, will get absolutely everything out of himself as an AFL footballer. Feel like that's a trait we may really like in him.

There are two main issues I have with Higgins which are his impact with ball in hand and his acceleration. Currently, they are issues which make me very hesitant to rate him over some others for pick 16. He ran a 3.10s 20m sprint (I think) at the Combine which is average, and not overly impressive from a small forward tipped to go round 1. His kicking is not overly damaging and without any line-breaking run to compensate, I still feel like his ceiling is somewhat capped. I would also find it quite unlikely that he would ever be a key cog in our midfield rotation given his size, however it does seem like he will remain as a Toby Greene style forward for his career, which is fine.

Having said this, his production is simply elite and his workrate suggests that he should maintain this at AFL level. I would not be unhappy at all if we took him at 16, however it looks unlikely that he'll last until then, and even still, there may be better options available for us.

Can't see Sydney passing on Constable.

Mine would be Constable + Richards. If of course we can't get Coffield.

Was thinking Sydney would be the danger, could also see Brisbane liking him at #15.

Really want Bonar though, you think he’d last to our second?

It is quite possible that he lasts to our second. Has come off pretty much no footy for two years. He is a risk.
