Completely disagree. His production is inconsistent at best, and I don't buy the argument that he was poor at the Champs because of his knee injury. He played. If it was hampering him to any great extent he wouldn't have played, simple as that. It's not a good enough excuse for his disappointing performances - it may have been an annoyance but definitely not any major hindrance.

He has mediocre acceleration, little ball-winning ability, average skills and no clear best position. At not one point this year has he shown anything remotely conducive to consistently good production. I rate him as a second round talent, no higher.
Pretty harsh indeed... only time will prove us correct/wrong..

I think valuation as a 2nd Rd is fanciful... dont see him getting to our 1st pick..

Houlahan is a decent general forward, upgrade on Dickson in
an athletic sense and good kick.

I don't mind him. My point is, I don't think he should even be talked about as a first rounder. If we wanted him we should've just kept pick 25.
Some people seem to make the comparison between him and Hayward last year. But I think Hayward is quicker and has more freak ability around goals. He went at pick 21.

Fair call, it's hard when we only have 9 & 16 as it is an awkward
spot between best available and needs. I like the Hayward
comparison though and probably place Houlahan 20 to 35, but
we only have the two picks and 16 is more open to a needs
pick.

There's every chance in the world he will be available at 9, but that's not what I meant. I consider him a second round talent although I know that he will fall in the mid-first round range. I just wouldn't be happy if we took him anywhere above, say pick 25.

I think Fogarty was better this year than Francis in his year, Francis was picked more on what he COULD become
Are you serious???? Francis was exceptional at the 2015 U18 Champs, Fogarty was absolutely nowhere. Francis dropped off towards the end of the year but he was in Larke Medal contention. The quality of their years is almost incomparable.

I am deadly serious Gollo

I thought he beat up on shit opposition to tell the truth, doesn't really matter though.

Don't want Fogarty.

He can kick both sides.. play forward, play mid, win contested, tackle.. we'll have to agree to disagree.. he will go in the first handful of picks..

I remember playing cricket against Fogarty when he was a 12 year old fill in for his small country town team. He’s always been a well developed kid

Sounds as though you're describing Hunter Clark

But I hope you're right RD

Slightly increases our chances of getting a slider

Hahahaha, fair enough, I was very big on Francis at the time of the Champs a couple of years ago but each to their own.

I was at the Country vs SA game,
I thought he might be the next Easton Wood before that game..

I watched him play a few SANFL games to & he was very average

Then heard Essendon had hopes of him playing as a big bodied midfielder, which I thought was baffling

Without having to read 107 pages can summarise who we’ll be taking at 9 & 16?

Or if we’re linked to anyone?

Didn't realise Coffield ran a 2.91 20m, that's bloody quick
Cal Twomey and other draft journos categorically undersell his pace. All year they've been saying he has a "turn of pace", nothing more. They also like to write about his "solid skills" despite being the best kick in this year's draft, in my opinon.

Would be nice if we could get the two baby forwards from the TAC (D'arcy and Trusler) as rookies if we get midfielders with our first picks.

Chance is with the younger players that they grow game wise (and hopefully with D'arcy height wise) quite a bit after they are drafted.

Aaron Trusler - 170cm, 67kg - Dec 31 99 - Small Forward - Sandringham Dragons - The youngest player in this draft pool and one of the most dangerous around goals. Has everything that you want with a small crumbing forward, leg speed, goal sense and houdini like tricks to get out of trouble and manufacture something from nothing.

Riley D'arcy - 189cm, 90kg - Dec 28 99 - 3rd Tall Forward - Dandenong Stingrays - don't be fooled by this guys height and think that all he is only a lead up type of forward. D'arcy is very strong 1v1 where he constantly uses his body to out position his direct opponent as well as being strong on the lead. He like Trusler has uncanny goal sense and is a smart footballer. He needs to work on his endurance so he can get higher up the ground at times.

I can see Stephenson getting through Norf's pick. They already have some x factor in Simpkin, Garner and Wood. They need genuine week in, week out midfield guns. Would be shocked if they didn't take Cerra.

From the little that I've seen Luke Davies-Uniacke is #1 in this class by a fair way. Seems to be a quicker version of Josh Kennedy or Patty Cripps.
