Without knowing anything about these kids Darcy Fogarty just seems to make sense for us with Stringer and Crameri gone. I actually think natural forwards who can kick well into the 50 are a bigger need than rebounding backs to replace Bob and Boyd.
We owe it to big Tommy and Schache.

He is pretty good footballer but he has a glaring weakness that keeps him outside of the top 10 for mine.

Also he isn't a natural forward.

If he plays like Gaff I want him. Would be perfect for us, outside run from the midfield.

The thing that really irks me with O'Brien, is he won just the 7 contested possessions for the entire carnival. Whitfield, Weller, Gaff, Hunter etc. had much better contested possession numbers as juniors.

He's more like a Hoskin-Elliot IMO. As in they both have similar levels of pace and endurance, good overhead marks and they are quite skillful around goals. They are also very soft going in for ground balls.

Given Dalrymple rates the contested side of things, I can't see us getting him anyway.

Smith only managed a level 10 beep test, pretty shocking.

Are you serious? wow. I remember having to run an 11 to get an 'A' in high school. So he wasn't even fit enough to get the top mark in a year 9 Phys Ed class...

I got a 13 in high school and I wasn't even exercising regularly then, but I was pencil thin

Would have been around 64kg.

My bad - I thought I'd seen him spoken about as a forward.

If you had to bet your life on one of the draftees in our range being able to find and hit a making target in a packed forward 50 who would it be?

I wouldn't bet on any of them to be honest

Hamilton was supposed to be real good at delivering the ball inside 50 in his draft year

I remember someone mentioning that in his draft year

*WA Combine*
Brandon Starcevich 187 cm 88 kg
20m Sprint- 2.87 seconds
Running vertical leap- 91 cm
Agility- 8.08

*Matt Guelfi 21.7 Yo Yo (Lest we forget Dav1d)

Maybe Ed Richards. Can't really think of many others. Richards I have as being the best looking kick in the draft.

Zac Bailey has a good clearance to forward play due to his ability to break away from stoppages and dispose off both feet.

Goddamn I want Richards. Can't see us taking him at 9 so I really hope he lasts to 16.

Fogarty's not a natural anything. He doesn't have an established position. His kicking is average, no better, no worse, and I wouldn't consider him a weapon delivering the ball inside 50 by any means. He can win contested ball but has no consistency about him and struggles to win the ball around the ground with questionable endurance and workrate.

Oscar Allen then?

Starcevich would have been good if we still had a pick around 30....
I've only seen his highlights from the WA vs Vic Country game
and these top five rated mids would want to be good to be
picked ahead of him. I also viewed Aaron Naughton and his
Marking and Closing Speed is first rate, but his disposal is
questionable to say the least.

Well, I don't know anything about the draft prospects, so I went to something called Zero Hanger and watched the clips (single game) of a few of the names that are being tossed around as being available at our pick 9 or 16.

Only two really grabbed my attention with some wow factor in their game: Coffield and Higgins.

Coffield plays on quite a number of times and finds his way through the traffic, breaking the main defensive line before kicking the ball. Not afraid to take on the tacklers. I can see why many don't think he will last to pick 9.

Higgins is indeed an absolute live wire, lots of excitement in the way he plays. If he is there at pick 9, it would be hard to go past him. Hate to say it but he had a bit of Toby Greene's about him except that he doesn't seem to be a dirty coward.

The clip I saw of Higgins reminded me a little bit of Brad Johnson too. The nuggety guy who is confident, nippy and can play above his height.

Must admit he’s really growing on me. Just wish he were a few inches taller...

He is similar in height to Dahlhaus and about the same weight already. Is widely touted as having the overhead skills (good marking hands and positioning) that allow him to play taller than he is. And gets a lot of the ball. The wow factor I saw in the 2 minute clip is his "action man" style of play. He beat other guys for ball over and over.

A couple of our smaller forwards may be nearing the end too. Picken - how many more seasons? Dickson? Clay Smith - will he bounce back this year? I hope so but I think Higgins would fill a need as well as possibly being the best available at 9.
