Fair assessment Dannnnnnnnnn, i like his work ethic and view him
as very coachable. Peter Sumich made a few comments that
usually transfer to senior level, but your points are valid.
Gunston's the obvious point of comparison for him, and obviously if he has that kind of career the club would be stoked. Not an easy role to succeed in, though. Does anybody have Allen's athletic testing results?

His agility was top 10, but he was carrying an injury.

Agility- 8.27, Running Vertical Jump- 88 cm.

So Knightmare has us taking Coffield and Balta. Coffield at 9 makes a lot of sense and I wouldn't be unhappy. Balta I'm not too keen on. Would love Higgins to slide to pick 16 but that seems doubtful. Do we think Constable is available at 16? Coffield and either Higgins or Constable I'd be stoked with.

The only thing holding me back with Allen is whether he has enough of a point of difference to succeed. On the short side for a key forward and doesn't look to have much of a reach to compensate for it, ordinary at ground level and doesn't seem to move that well for his height. At AFL level with better defenders and more congestion, does he have enough to his game to remain a scorer?
What do you mean by not moving well for his height?

He has a really good leap which makes up a bit for his reach & he is rarely knocked away from a mark by someone bodying him.

Surprised you didn't bring up his inaccuracy in front of goal, because his kicking seems fine in general play.

I pointed out for a while that his ground level stuff needs some work but I've seen him play other games and he was just fine.

In the vision I've seen his movement just appears pretty standard for a 190cm type; not something I'd call a real genuine strength.

I want to like him - in terms of fit he's probably the best one for us outside of the likely top eight - just a little concerned he struggles to make the step up.

I'd grab him at 16 in a heartbeat in fact I think he'll be a bolter... Wouldn't surprise me someone takes him top 10?

I can see you really liked his highlights video.

I can tell you now, there's no way he's going to go top 10. Has struggled further up the ground and can go missing for reasonably long patches in games. I rated Will Hayward as a better player and he went at pick 21 in last years draft. But maybe Houllihan could go at pick 16 in this draft.

I just can't imagine Coffield will last to pick 9, would love it if he did, based on the very, very little I know. Balta is a KPP, we don't need one of them, got stacks now. As many have been saying here, we need some outside and some creative forward players.

Higgins Yuck, Bonar a freak athlete but not a natural footballer. If we ended up with either I'd be pretty unhappy.
Coffield at 9 would be stoked but other than he and others that will probably go top 5, I'd love to take Constable. Absolutely smart, natural footballer. Has a bit of Bont about him the way he moves. Great decision maker. Good hands and awareness in traffic and can go forward as he leads strongly and can take amark and has pretty good goal sense. Had some injury issues this year I believe so didn't see the best of him but I reckon he'll grow in to a gun AFL player.

We already have Josh Dunkley. Constable seems pretty slow.

Constable is nowhere near Dunkley levels of slow. He ran a 3.05s 20m sprint. Not amazing, but certainly not poor.

Good point. I think our list is basically in good shape at the moment and the focus should be on finding something we haven't got now or setting up a succession plan for the near future.

Haven't got now: probably short on a dasher round the wings who has elite disposal by foot.
Succession plan: it is the creative forward player area where the gap could emerge, perhaps as early as the 2018 season. Urgent action required.

The one thing I keep seeing is the want to replace a certain type of player, we have lost Stringer and Crameri so people want that 3rd tall/medium type.

We should always be looking for players who we think will be 250 game players.

As for our forward line, things change and it’s up to the coaching staff to adapt, a lot of our work will be focused on schache pushing up to the wings and doubling back and Boyd/Roughead playing deep when resting, they likes of Dale McLean lipinski Greene even JJ Jong Dunkley Smith Dickson ect will provide the change up needed in our new look forward line.

Assessment on Bonar is a tough one..
For me though, he may well go on to be the best player in the crop.. has significant upside... yet to peak.. unlike other top 10 prospects.. has burst.. a leap.. goal sense.. good attitude and dedication.. appears to have a good head on shoulders.. a few years in an AFL environment and he is a matchwinner... type of player you build around (top 5 in team)..
Much prefer we select him at 9 if he is available.

St Kilda with back to back picks could go Bonar/Brayshaw a bit
of risk combined with a bit of safety.

I think Cordy might play as the third

Raynor, Stephenson or Bonar would be the Stringer replacement. Not much chance the first two make it to pick 9 from what I read.

Any others at around 9 or 16? Fogarty can mark but I can't see any of the mobility, ball handling under pressure or speed off the mark that we would be looking for in a 3rd tall forward.

I forgot - Allen is a contender, likely to be available at pick 9 and quite possibly at 16. I am not confident of using pick 9 on him if someone like Cerra is available.
