Raynor, Stephenson or Bonar would be the Stringer replacement. Not much chance the first two make it to pick 9 from what I read.

Any others at around 9 or 16? Fogarty can mark but I can't see any of the mobility, ball handling under pressure or speed off the mark that we would be looking for in a 3rd tall forward.

I forgot - Allen is a contender, likely to be available at pick 9 and quite possibly at 16. I am not confident of using pick 9 on him if someone like Cerra is available.

Houlahan or Allen at 16.

That is all.

Might be able to find a third tall with one of our rookie picks.

Balta at 16? Fast, athletic and tall, abilty to play all over the ground.

He is very tall at 194cm and is already 92kg. Chances are he just won't have the mobility we are looking for as a creative forward replacement for Shtringer. But agree, he looks a good footballer.

No chance Coffield gets past Saints.
I'm starting to entertain the possibility a little more. There's a very real chance that all of Coffield, Brayshaw, Bonar, Cerra could be available at the Saints' picks and I would consider Brayshaw and Bonar to be more likely options for St Kilda than Coffield and Cerra. I'm starting to feel quietly confident that either Coffield or Cerra may slip to pick 9.

Assessment on Bonar is a tough one..
For me though, he may well go on to be the best player in the crop.. has significant upside... yet to peak.. unlike other top 10 prospects.. has burst.. a leap.. goal sense.. good attitude and dedication.. appears to have a good head on shoulders.. a few years in an AFL environment and he is a matchwinner... type of player you build around (top 5 in team)..
Much prefer we select him at 9 if he is available.

I think the worry is that we haven't seen much football out of him. Started playing late in life and has missed a large chunk of the last two years.
I agree there's upside and also he could develop in to an absolute gun with his freakish athletic ability. It's just a gamble though having not seen a lot of a natural footballer in him.
Reminds me a lot of a shorter Nic Nat. At pick 16 I wouldn't be too fussed but not pick 9.

The high quality mids/versatile listed over and over again in top picks appear to firmly be: Dow, Raynor, LDU, Cerra, Coffield, Stephenson and Brayshaw. That is 7 players. We need other teams to go for 2 different picks (e.g., KPP or Ruck) for one of these mids to make it through to us. Highly rated non-mids that are favoured to go high are Naughton and Brander, with ruckman Hayes given quite a lot of prominence. I agree, someone like Cerra, Coffield or Brayshaw could be available at pick 9. Freo could go a tall with one pick as they have two of the top 5 picks and have to wait until pick 42 after this. If the Saints with picks 7 and 8 want to mix it up a bit, e.g., go for Bonar, one of the prized mids will slide to us. Which one? Most likely to me appears to be either Brayshaw or Cerra at pick 9. Which would be a good result for us (just going with the form guides).

Fox have Higgins rated as 8th best prospect. Can't be ruled out of our pick 9 choice, given our needs.

would love to land Higgins
Feel like his ball use and speed is something we need
He would work so well alongside bont and Macrae

They've got to pull the trigger on Cerra if he's there, exactly the type of player they need.

I'm warming to the idea of O'Brien at 16 even though there are question marks over his hardness/ability to win his own footy, but he just has so much of what we lack. Having someone with real pace who can hit targets going inside 50 and can kick a long goal is very appealing.

He is second on the Pies' wish list behind Cerra, so even if they grab Cerra, Saints will pick Coffield with one of their picks.

#30 North Melbourne –Billy Hartung (VIC – Mid/Fwd)
Height: 176cm, Weight: 71kg, DOB: 24/01/1995
Recruited from: Dandenong Stingrays
Style: Brent Harvey
Player comparison: Travis Colyer
Range: 15-40
Profile: Hartung is one of if not the elite runner of this draft. Has a 16+ beep and will run and carry the ball the length of the field if you let him. His real point of difference is his breakaway speed, Hartung breaks away from every contest and really takes on the game and any time he gets ball in hand he looks to go and cover 30m through his run and carry knowing that that’s how he’s best going to put his stamp on the game doing it at speed. He’s also a very high production player who finds the ball so easily. Very willing tackler. Hartung is also a very clean user of the footy by both hand and foot and can hit his targets or hit the scoreboard if you give him the time and space to execute. At his size he likely always remains an outside player and is most likely to find a role for a team in a forward half his lack of height and size may not be get as exposed'

I feel as though they are pretty similiar to be honest, maybe l like O'Brien though a little more.

I haven't heard one single rumour about Cerra to Collingwood - how do you know he's on their wishlist? I'm also not sure Coffield will actually go to the Saints above Bonar and Brayshaw.

The only thing holding me back with Allen is whether he has enough of a point of difference to succeed. On the short side for a key forward and doesn't look to have much of a reach to compensate for it, ordinary at ground level and doesn't seem to move that well for his height. At AFL level with better defenders and more congestion, does he have enough to his game to remain a scorer?
I thought I read somewhere that Allen had a long reach

When we still had our second round pick I recall reading that we might go for a mature age ready to play draftee.

Now we have pick #16 and no second rounder. Would we still do this? If so, who are the candidates?
Not likely at pick 16, Tim Kelly, Liam Ryan, Bayley Fritsch and
Brett Bewley could be picks 30 to 65 there are several other
players who could go 50 to rookie including younger guys
like Nick Hind and Adam Sambono. There is also two rucks
one from WA and one from SA, but they are later picks.
