Is there any reason why the draft is so late every year or why it couldn't be moved forward to say around now? It would seem to make sense with pre-season for most clubs starting next week. Or is it purposely made that late due to year 12 exams?
Moving it any earlier would be very, very problematic for all draftees in Year 12.

We are using pick 82.

So who is the smokey left footed South Australian this year? :p
Cole Gerloff 184 cm, 83 kg. The Captain of Prince Alfred College
and best and fairest winner the same school attended by one
Zac Bailey.

Note- never seem him play, just like the name "Cole"

Well some clubs have plated up a fine shit sandwich for lunch
when you include rookie upgrades and father sons in the mix.
Carlton's DFA's could be Billy Hartung, Matt Shaw and Aaron
Mullet, but the coming three DFA periods will reveal all.

Little run down on Nathan Murphy? Cheere
188cm utility (DEF/MID) with scope to develop through the midfield, but didn't have the opportunity to show that transition this season. Outstanding skills, great overhead, very good in aerial contests, and an exceptionally smart footballer. Reads the game very well. Decent athletically.

Extremely late birthday (mid-December) and played high-level cricket as a youngster, so there is scope for development.

When you compare him to someone like Richards he isn't really a "sexy" prospect, nor does he have the midfield production, but he just looks like a footballer to me. He's been very clean in everything he does that I've seen. I'm big on him on limited viewing but not many others here are.

Good write up, would just add that he seems to have played most of his footy up forward so far so I'd call him a FWD/MID more.

Yeah I was about to say, looked like he was playing full forward in all of the highlights in the videos that were posted earlier

Didnt see anything in those clips that suggested he has mid potential. Flew for a few 2 clutch grabs. Has some nice skills and kicks to good spots which I rate highly, but nothing showing awareness in congestion or contested ground skills really. Its only high school stuff, but the highlight reel reminded me a bit of Hamilton's (but with overhead marking thrown in).

Why do you think That? Fingers crossed we use it on Gowers
I don't see us picking up Gowers, off field the bloke is missing a few screws. Add Libba and Biggs together then multiply it by 100.

Was known for being very slack at Carlton, maybe that's changed. Has shown he can play.

Have a feeling Cerra will be available at our pick. Seems to be the classic second/third choice for clubs above us.

I think Norf would be mad to pass on him, they need him more so than Stephenson. Same with Saints.

I hope we don't take Allen, even at pick 16 now. He's like a smaller version of Schache, I don't see us having room for another one.
I'd be looking for someone with better ground level skills or someone with more pace.

I was big on Allen before the Schache panic trade, just too lazy to
change. Pick 9 is defined by what happens above it which is very
hard to predict. I think only St Kilda or Carlton can risk on Bonar
with their multiple picks, but who knows.
