Just broke out in a cold sweat.
Safe to say Dogs drafting has improved in the last 5 years.

With Cerra:

Strengths: contested ball-winning (14.5avg in TAC Cup, 6 clearances avg), high production (26 disposals pg TAC Cup), overhead marking (avg 2 contested marks pg TAC Cup), ball use by hand and foot, forward capacity (kicked 3.5 in one game as a permanent forward), evasiveness

Weaknesses: acceleration average

I'd definitely put precision kicking as a strength of Coffield's, also his evasive skills are excellent.

I very much would prefer Bailey, L Fogarty or Richards, but I wouldn't despair.
Zac Bailey (in my limited knowledge) just screams Dalrymple pick to me.
Came from nowhere to win an AA nod, marked improvement during his draft year, quick and seems to be versatile.

Not necessarily.

I don't think anyone can really assume they really know what Dal will do. He could take Constable, he could take Murphy, he could take someone else.
If we consider the trade move to downgrade 9 to 13, it could be an indication that our pick 9 is likely to be seen as a "reach" on someone others don't rate as highly. That could put a Constable or Murphy in the frame.

Another Dalrymple trademark is the December birthday. Only one player with that: Nathan Murphy (but lots in Sep-Nov)

I think that's a bit of a myth more than anything. In the last 4 years we've drafted 2 players with December birthdays (Collins and Young). In fact it's the same amount as January birthday's (McLean and Dunkley).

L Fogarty is a lot cleaner than what Honeychurch was in his draft year, Honeychurch would struggle to have a lot of his kicks reach there target as well.

I just remember Honeychurch’s production was really high and was a really good goalscorer? They are both absolute terriersL Fogarty has one of the highest supercoach averages and so did Honeychurch. But glad to know L Fogarty is much cleaner. Really want him at 16 now.

OK, not having to worry about the Pieman in the off-season I had a spare hour or so to kill.

I've been trying to keep track of who's who in the top end of the draft (with a special interest in who might go at 9 and 16 of course). Unless I've missed some great links the AFL website doesn't seem to make it easy. Perhaps it's intentional so that we'll keep browsing lots and lots of their pages. Who knows, but I find it frustrating. There are probably some good resources elsewhere in BF but I thought it'd be good to have our own WB-flavoured one. Mind you I'm not above pinching material from anyone who's already done the hard yakka.

So I've compiled the following table of the top 25-30 candidates (based on CaptainMurphy 's "Wish List" OP and supplemented by Callum Twomey's top 25). I hope this might make it easier for people to keep track of players, especially for those like me who are only casual observers until we get closer to draft night ... or actually draft somebody.

It's a work in progress. I'm hoping we can run it a bit like a wiki (except I'll moderate the updates). I've populated it mostly with stuff I've got from Callum Twomey's top 25 but we can scratch his stuff if you think it's rubbish. There are obviously some blanks and there may be some errors or opinions you disagree with. If you let me know, either by posting here (preferable) or by PM-ing me I can keep the table up to date and flesh it out. I'll add the players' Highlights URLs as they come to my attention (please feel free to notify me of any). I'm happy to add new players too if you can provide me the data.

Anyone's offerings are welcome but in particular I'd appreciate the input of those who obviously watch the draft candidates much more closely than I do - Wizard17 , Gollo , Dannnnnnnnnn etc.

And of course if some table like this already exists somewhere, please let me know where and I'll happily delete the post!

I'm a massive Lachie Fogarty fan but does he remind you guys of Honeychurch in his junior years??

Not saying you're wrong about his attributes but Honeychurch was an U18 AA in his draft year.

I knew that he was, unfortunately so far he hasn't been able to recreate the chemistry that he once had with Tom Boyd.

Hope he has a big year next year.

Honey was a gun junior.

Honeychurch was named in the Under 18 All Australian team, and won Vic Metro's Most Valuable Player after a series of strong performances for Metro. Honeychurch played in the Ranges' TAC Cup Grand Final win over the Dandenong Stingrays, booting 3 goals and named as one of the best afield. While ranked by Champion Data as the fifteenth most impressive player in the draft pool, Honeychurch slid to Pick 60 in the 2013 AFL draft, taking the Bulldogs (the club that had displayed the most interest in Honeychurch) by surprise

Thanks. Good stuff. Have added to table.

Two questions -
1. Have I got the right Lachie/Lochie when I said that Lochie O'Brien is a great tackler? Seems unusual for a great tackler to have low CPs. Maybe it was Lachie F?

2. Also with the agility test, lower is better, right? So Dow's 8.04 is considerably better than Bonar's 8.30 for example.

1. Nope. You're thinking of Lachie Fogarty

2. Yep lower is better.

dogwatch

Charlie Ballard is 195.5cm, 82.3kg, he is a Utility and he is a from Sturt.

His strength is his motor (he can play as a wingman at that height no joke), kicking skills, marking and versatility (plays forward, back and midfield).

Weaknesses are his slight frame and would ideally want to be a touch quicker.

I expected we might look at him with a pick in the twenties but I think 16 is too early. Is a real POD to other wingmen.

Would complement English and give us two tall wings. [emoji854]

Lachie Fogarty averaged 9.7 tackles in the TAC Cup and 9.3 at the U18 Champs. That is mindbogglingly elite. You're definitely not looking at Lochie O'Brien for the tackling.

Elite as in work rate or elite as in always second to the ball. For
memory Lachlan Fogarty's brother played for Footscray and was
not ever going to compete in the Stawell gift unless it was in the
mile.
