Gold Coast will probably take him at pick 19. Seems like a typical Clayton pick, athletic tall with not so great football smarts.

Why? He floats in and out of games and hasn't shown any real familiarity up forward or in the ruck. Lacks game awareness.

He is KPD size, his reels show him marking and when he is not marking, running with ball, breaking away from the opposition and kicking long. Lot to like. If we were in to drating KPP's, he would be very attractive.

I think his attributes are exceptional. Equally adept as a contested ball-winner and outside runner with elite speed and agility and can float forward and hit the scoreboard. Skills are fine, fairly reliable. He would be a legitimate first rounder if not for his inability to win the footy. Averaged 12.5 disposals at the Champs and 14.3 dispys at WAFL Colts level. I'm not sure if it's an endurance issue or what, but it baffles me as to how he can be so talented and look so good on the ground yet have such low statistical output. I think he would be a perfect option around the 28-40 mark but I wouldn't reach for him at 16.

He looks so, so good as an observer, but his production is worrying.

Don't know about cutting a deal but Bains would be fully aware of who StKilda have on their shortlist for 7 and 8.

Got 18 disposals with 2 tackles and a goal. This goes right to the point - Starcevich was probably the most impressive player I saw for the whole of that game, yet he simply doesn't possess the ability to win enough of the footy or compensate in other areas.

I'd be stoked if we got Stephenson at this point, he's probably done enough this year to be a top 3 pick but realistically should still go top 5. Has a lot more to offer than Coffield or example. Coffield probably addresses needs a little more but Stephenson would give us a lot more overall.

You are probably right. But I have seen a few suggestions on the net that he could slide a bit because he is very skinny and may not have impressed enough with being able to find his own ball consistently.

It all seems to depend on whether some of teams with picks 1-8 will want to go for a KPP or big and burly. There seems to be 5 possible attractions: Brander, Balta, D Fogarty, Naughton and Bonar. If 2 of these guys went before pick 9, and another 2 before pick 16, we could be laughing all the way to our pick 16. The bigger bodies choices are all pretty good and some teams may be prioritising their needs differently to us (fingers crossed). I am assuming we are after outside mids and versatile forwards.

For what it is worth, Twomey has both Coffield and Clark ranked as 9th and 10th best players and Richards, Murphy, L Fogarty and Bailey all ranked after 16.

Fox similarly ranks Coffield and Clark at 10th & 11th best; Murphy, L Fogarty ranked after 16, no mention of Richards or Bailey in top 25.

For the Bonar fans, Twomey and Fox both rank him later than 16th best talent.

For Higgins non-fans, he is ranked better than 9th by both and so may be gone by our picks, which should delight you.

If a lot of the AFL drafters think similarly, we should clean up with our picks.

Knightmare has us taking Coffield at 9 (with Clark and Bonar still on the table for a couple more picks) and Balta at 16 (with L Fogarty, Murphy, Richards going in the early 20's). He rates Balta as the 5th best talent in the draft.
