I don’t buy the notion that most people seem to lump us with going into this years draft. Oh, Boyd and Murphy retired, they need backs. Ummm, JJ, Biggs, Suckling, Williams, Crozier (reportedly set to play back), Lynch, Webb. I think we’re set for half back flankers. We need general forwards/small forwards and midfield class.
Problem is more the quality not quantity, JJ is good but the rest are just role players or unproven. Could definitely do with a top end half back especially given the loss of two AA calibre half backs to retirement.
Stephenson brings plenty to our forward.
Strong hands, agile, quick turn of pace and he is unlike most other fwds in the AFL as can play tall and mid/small type roles deep inside 50 and higher up. He has also shown the potential mid he can be with late season midfield form.
A lot of oppo team recruiters would have to all drop there bundle for him to fall to us.
Spent most of the year learning how to play midfield and can't forget his endurance is elite so definitely has the capacity to be a full time midfielder. Not to mention his speed and agility are both elite too. Not getting my hopes up about him sliding to us.

Webb will be playing mainly in the midfield this year

1- Tom Scully
2- Jack Trengove
3- Dustin Martin
4- Anthony Morabito
5- Ben Cunnington
6- Gary Rohan
7- Brad Sheppard
8- John Butcher
9- Andrew Moore
10- Jake Melksham
11- Jordan Gysberts
12- Kane Lucas
13- Daniel Talia

Shortly After- Nat Fyfe, Mitch Duncan, and Jack Gunston.
Real shame about what happened to Morabito but outside of Dusty, Scully, Cunnington and Talia there wasn's much quality taken before Howard.

At VFL level. Then when he gets a crack at AFL level, no doubt we’ll play him somewhere else. I just can’t see him as a mid. Would love to see him played back at VFL level then get a chance in the back half at AFL level.

Sure an AA caliber back would be nice but aside from Dickson who could well retire at seasons end, i don’t think we have any genuine medium/small forwards. Mids that can go through there, yes, but it’d be nicer to pick up a Crameri/Stringer type forward. Would also prefer midfield class over another half back.

Wow that's interesting, can't remember anyone placing Shipley in the first couple of rounds

He'll need to continue working on his midfield trade for a while but, yeah, no doubt he could become a very good mid and possible elite forward.
I even think he could play quiet a few games next season as a fwd while becoming a better mid in the years after.

I agree and at the end of the day I don't see him reaching us but I couldn't see him dropping any further if he did. Would be a shock if he went outside of the top 10.

I think I bidded on him at no. 21 in our Bulldogs mock draft, I think he's underrated by most on here.

Tested very well. Seems like he's got plenty of upside as he only started playing footy 3 years ago as well. Some on here (like Chris25) have argued that Shipley will end up a better player then Constable and I can now sort of understand why after watching few of his videos. Doesn't seem overly clean though, fumbles quite a bit in those videos.

And I also really have the feeling that the media/BF are really overating coffield. Based on this potential for him go do midfield in future. Obviously could be wrong. But there is a risk that he is only destined to just be a HBF, which is fine but not pick 9 fine!

Gotta say, just from the reels, I am very impressed with Coffield and think he would be worth the #9 pick, he appears very versatile and has top outside mid elite qualities - he is fast, runs well with the ball, looks balanced, nice kick. However, there is a bit of quality around. Reasonable scenario's have been presented where prospects like Cerra, Stephenson or Brayshaw are available at 9. I also think Clark (genuine long kick on either side) or Murphy could be worth the #9 pick, they both seem to have a lot to offer. Then there is Bonar, do you pull the pin at 9? If you went Bonar (the Stringer replacement) at #9, Clark or Murphy may still be there at 16. But there is also one Lachlan Fogarty who is very likely to be available at #16 and to me looks like a great outside mid prospect.

I could go with the Bonar & L Fogarty haul. There is a bit of finger crossing with Bonar but against that L Fogarty looks a sure bet.

Zac Bailey almost always gets an early to mid 20's ranking but I really like what I have seen of him in the reels. Cannon ball speed, likes to tackle, likes to run with the ball and take the tackles on. Would be happy if he was the 16 pick.

Stephenson would be an incredible steal at 9, I've long had him written off completely as a possibility. Would be unlikely surely.

If i were a saints fan and that happened i would be calling for a full investigation into Bains. Cant see it, but i certainly hope so!
