It's great to play with and learn from an AFL great like Zac Dawson
at Peel thunder, i have modeled my disposal on the great man and
can only hope to have as stellar a career at AFL level.

He’s entering the draft, how can he only want to play for Essendon? I get he may not want to leave Victoria but only the Bombers seems weirdly specific.
Twomey seems to think Lions have narrowed down to either Rayner or Brayshaw.
Heard from a mate who has been in contact with Rayner - it's not that he refuses to go anywhere else, it's that he really wants to play for Essendon more than anywhere else. An interstate club taking him would be fraught with danger.

Says alot about him if he voluntarily wants to play for that scum

Does Rayner expect that other clubs will all pass on him and let Essendon use pick 48 to select him? Essendon traded away multiple picks it might have used before pick 48 - what does that say to the kid? He ain't going to Essendon.

EDIT: I should add that these comments by a draftee are a form of draft tampering. It should be treated as such by the AFL. We can't have a competition with a compromised draft (surely we are done with that now.)

It's draft tampering and the AFL should impose sanctions in the future for this sort of behaviour...it's bullshit that shouldn't be tolerated.

Requesting a trade after a year or two isn't draft tampering.
Making it known that you only want to play for one particular club is though. These comments are made by draftees to ensure that interstate clubs don't select them and to raise doubts in all clubs' minds. Essendon in particular have form as a "nominated" club.

I come in peace!..

Little bit of information for you lovely folk.

Coffield is your preference at 9, if gone which is expected with one of Saints picks, you'll take Ed Richards, if Jack Higgins is still there at 16 you'll take him also.

Best of Luck on Friday, let's hope Coffield is still there for you guys.

Funny, Bishop says we'll pass on Coffield. Richards talk fits in with the redhead rumours we've gotten around here though, and I'd be happy if it were the case.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks! Sounds fairly plausible tbh.

Does this mean you guys will take naughton at pick 6?

I think you've slightly misinterpreted. It's more that he's a risk of asking to be traded to Essendon once he's in an AFL system, especially if he were to go to an interstate club. He will be willing to go to whatever club drafts him, however his desire to play at Essendon makes him a risk of a trade request once his contract's up.

That's very, very reassuring.

Pies have played their cards extremely close to their chest, i don't have contacts at Collingwood, but know employees of a couple of clubs in the top 10 and they think it's Naughton or Fogarty to us.

So many things to play out.. If Lions take Brayshaw, how far Stephenson slides with his heart condition.

I know Saints will take Bonar with one of their picks, well at least up until last week that was their plan, with Brayshaw/Coffield their other preference.

I'm really hoping for Ed Richards at pick 9 if those first 7 names are taken (or if Stephenson is considered too much of a risk with his heart), I see playing in the midfield in the future. Otherwise I'd be happy with Bonar or D Fogarty as alternatives.

At 16 I'm probably most hoping for Murphy at that selection. If not him I'd still like us to grab a forward in Higgins or L Fogarty.

There should be some decent small forwards at our last pick/rookie pick that I wouldn't mind if we do miss out at 16. Lachie Schultz is a young mature aged prospect that is a little bit similar to L Fogarty, I'd be pretty happy with him. Cody Ninyette sounds like he could be ok as well. Sambono might be available as well if we wanted to take a chance on him, but I've heard he struggled to adapt to Darwin life a bit and went walkabout a couple times. There's also Penrith, who is linked to Carlton's academy, but we could pounce a bit earlier as they may only see him as a rookie.

Otherwise there's Trusler, he has a very late birthday (31st December). Maybe a bit small though. Landt is another that Wizard keeps mentioning, as well as Crowden and Jarnestrom. So if we do happen to miss out on a small forward at pick 16, there's a few options for us.

That surprises me GC BC, i watch a bit of NEAFL and love his talent.
His best which was Aspley versus Southport around round 17 was
breathtaking mid twenties and four goals plus lots of assists, but
he was a rookie at Aspley. You have a good eye as he has some
clay to mould, but needs core strength and some posture work.
