SPS said last year he wanted to play in Melbourne for a big Victorian club. Must be a W.A. thing.Must hate his family and friends then... imagine saying you don't want to play in your home state (would be refreshing at least).

It's Aaron Naughton, has nominated Collingwood as his club of choice.
I'll be shocked if he gets <7 min.
I'm thinking between 7min 15 sec - 7 min 30 sec
Would you swap Wines for Whitfield ?
I wouldnt
Come out like what? Has there acually been any report on this or is this another BF rumour?Wonder if the kid has a commitment from Collingwood. Pretty ballsy to come out like that without a commitment.
Hilarious coming from a freo supporter, our first 3 years returned a finish of 8th, 4th and 11th, not too bad at all for the first 3 years, which was followed by a period of dominance. On the other hand, freo managed finals twice in their first 15 years, and 7 out of 23 years since inception. What's that saying about throwing stones and glass houses?
Given that we had to pay millions to join the league and had to pay teams to come and play us I'm not surprised that at some point we may have needed some help, but to say we were a basket case is just wishful thinking on your behalf, we're the most profitable sporting club in Australia and probably contribute more financially to the AFL than most clubs, if not all.

https://thewest.com.au/sport/afl/af...ood-over-fremantle-dockers-pick-ng-b88661570zLet me go to Collingwood’.
Considered a ready-made AFL defender, experts have been suggesting that Freo would attempt to snap up the youngster with pick five.
But Naughton, who is born in Victoria, has his sights on Collingwood at pick six.
“For me personally I think Melbourne, being the home of footy and playing for the biggest club in Australia, that'd be the way to go for me,” he said.
Apparently on the radio in Perth today, it was reported that one high ranked potential draftee has said he will refuse to go to Freo if drafted. Does anyone know who it is or have any info on this?
If that’s the case the AFL should step in and suspend the player from the draft because as ai understand it, if you nominate for the draft then you are saying you are prepared to go anywhere.
The club has repeatedly said we are targeting mids this draft with our first three picks. If, in the long term, Rayner can't spend at least 50% of his game time impacting through the midfield, then it's arguable he fits a need.
Carlton are in Melbourne. Unless you live in Brisbane it's hard to describe how little exposure the Lions receive in the local market. There's little to no media or marketing opportunities for Lions players locally, to earn an income off the field. We're a city of 1 million plus people and less than 2% of the Brisbane population are members or attended home games.
Agree. A week out we have 4 that could still go 1. I have no idea who should or will be picked 1st next week.Yes, but that was narrowed down to 2 with about 3-4 weeks to go ...
He's going to be disappointed if Collingwood don't call his name out, wont get to their next pick. I wonder if the Pies have told him they will select him at 6 if available.Given what’s he’s quoted as saying in this article he looks to be a lock at 6.

You would imagine so.
I doubt they would appreciate the kid flapping his gums about that in the paper though.
The league should issue a very firm warning - I would suggest publicly announce that should a similar situation arise in the future that the player in question would be ruled out of the draft that year and the club in question would forfeit the pick under question.
Pretty big penalty but kids ‘nominating’ their ‘club of choice’ before the draft is ridiculous - next it’ll be refusing to sign their rookie contracts and demanding a trade before they step on the field.
