2017 Draft rumours

He's not talking about AFL level, he means CP% stats at junior level.

And only 2 of those are under 30% anyway

I suppose it’s impossible for Naish to improve at all?

I’d be surprised if Brad Hill or Jake Lloyd average over 30% contested possessions in their draft year. Unless you can provide proof otherwise? There is definitely a role for players like Naish at AFL level and believe it or not we’ll actually spend some time developing him.

In the end he's going to cost us two picks in the 50 which are essentially fliers anyway so who gives a heck?

The point is that apparently the figures clearly show that those who average less than 30% contested in the juniors have an extremely high bust rate.

Of course there will be exceptions, as there are to every rule.

To his manager.

Is he out of contract?

Another ret@rded move by the West Coast recruiting panel opting for a Melbourne spud (Mutimer) when Mountford was staring them straight in the eyes.

He was told that he had options and those option involved returning to WA with 2 or 3 years attached. Any manager worth there damn would put the feelers out.

Yeah, I'm not sure why west coast did that. Kid is a gem (attitude and player).

Literally all those blokes don't work as recruiters.

Buckenara sprouts senile shit 99% of the time.

The only recruiters that matter are the 18 in that room tomorrow night.

If none of them bid on him in the top 25, he's not a top 25 pick. Simple.

Now lets take it back a step here and not get side tracked.

Errr what?

Naish averages under 30% CP.

It’s the death zone for midfielders

Which you are giving an opinion on Naish's footballing ability

I replied by stating the the pro people involved in AFL football with most of them being former champions of the game think of him.

Then you come back with telling me that the only person to value him is the recruiter that drafts him
That has nothing to do with his ability as a player which you commented on.

Not many people/Recruiters thought James Hird or Nat Fyfe were top picks and didnt select them
Does that mean they were not 'Worth a better pick ?

You clearly dont have a clue what was being discussed and totally disregard the comment i made in regards to teams tending not to bid early on father sons and if you like we can go through multiple players and where they were drafted or bid on compared to what they should have been picked at

Next year North,Geelong,Doggies all have father sons, Do you not believe that teams tend to let these kids go to their fathers clubs and expect similar consideration when their kids are available

SOS's son went at #53 ? Jack Viney was rated top 2-3 in his draft year but didnt get bid on by gws even though they had the 1st 3 selections

Just another in the line of great decisions lately

Lamb over Blakely
Not rookieing Ryan last year
Venebles over SPP (jury still out)

But the best of the father sons from next year will be wearing Blue. Ben Silvagni, monster at 190 something already and has real talent. Rated higher than Jack was

Why would Pies not take a KPP that early when they already have 500 million mids?

Looking at Tall at 38. Someond like Balta.

Fogarty won't be playing much Midfield

The AFL told GWS not to bid on Viney. Another way of giving a priority pick without giving a priority pick.

Are people forgetting West Coast bid on Luke McDonald? Thankfully for North they still got a bargain as he should have been the #1 pick. Teams will do whatever they can to make other teams pay the market value. North also bid on himmelburg and steele.

I think you've confused me with another North poster. I said mountford was signing, rockliff was going to SA and balic was coming to North. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Melbourne showed more interest in Balic so not bad.
Luke McDonald was #8 in the 2013 draft,West Coast had pick #11 and took Dom Sheed ??? How did this happen

You say he should have been #1
#2 Josh Kelly
#3 Jack Billings
#4 Marcus Bontempelli
#13 Patrick Cripps
#15 Zac Jones
#23 Matt Crouch
#26 Zac Merrett

Yeah Ok now we know why people just laugh at you - You need to see a doctor

Fog taller, stronger, faster, fitter, more aggressive, versatile and agile...

Both good marks and kicks tho.
I think half forwards without elite or very good pace struggle in today’s hands. Could be wrong on fogarty though

Lennon apparently tested very poorly for both speed and endurance at his combine, which was a fair sized red flag. You need to at least be good at one. Or not poor at both.

Fogarty is not quick, but he's not slow like Ben and he's probably got better endurance as well.

He's also a much better height for someone who isn't super-quick and may still be growing, so could end up just about key position height.

Could also see him playing the Jake Lever intercept marking role down back.

All true but I reckon the main difference will be that Fogarty is a competitor, aggressive and is determined to succeed.

Lennon was a bit of a coaster.

Seems since the Stephenson heart thing we've crossed him off in favour of Fogarty which suggests that instead of going for a pure mid like observers say we must, we're actually going for X-factor game breaking talent.

Makes sense given how hard you chased Martin and Kelly. Can get serviceable midfielders later in the draft. Take the genuine match winners when you can.

All these rumour and I still have no clue what so ever who the Swans will end up getting at pick 14.

So far it is anyone of Higgins, O'Brien, Murphy, Brander, Constable, Clark, L.Foggerty, Richards and Bonar.

Fogarty and Murphy are the two that are the main ones.

No it doesn't. If you take three picks inside the top 25 and a bid for Naish comes after that stage, it means you have 3 x top 25 selections.

You're right their might be an academy bid or 2.
Otherwise Jeremias might be correct. 17, 20, 25a and 25b. :D
