2017 Draft rumours

A bit of both, knowledge that we are keen on Murphy, but just a gut feel that we will take him with 6. In saying that l think Freo will take Brayshaw with pick 2, so this could still leave us Cerra or Dow as possible options. I think Freo will take Naughton with pick 5.
Let’s hope.

Stephenson & Brayshaw at 7/8 plz.

I would hate that scenario
I don’t want Brayshaw with pick 5, let alone pick 2!
Also not in favour of getting Naughton at all

My Western Jets source reckons West Coast are into Lachie Fogarty at both picks 13 and 21 but I presume he’s gone by the latter
Poster on our board thinks we're interested in him, he has close to the highest average tackle count in TAC cup history and that's all the rage at the moment.
I doubt we'd take him at 9 but he's definitely in the frame with out pick 16.

Given we tried to downgrade our pick 9 to your pick 13 during trade week we seem to be considering two players that BF would consider 'bolters'.

I think Brayshaw will be one of the picks of the draft. Terribly underrated on here.
If Collingwood had picks #2 and #5... Would you take him at #2 over Davies-Uniacke, Rayner and Dow? Or #5 ahead of two of Cerra, Stephenson, Fogarty, Naughton? Just because someone doesn't want them at two high picks doesn't mean they are underrated - they may just rate them at #6 or #7. I don't mind Brayshaw at #5 but I'd rather take Fogarty given we need some tall targets inside forward 50. I very much doubt we'll take Brayshaw @ #2 though - think that's wishful thinking by other clubs.

He's family friends with your draft or list manager whose name escapes me (Dalrymple?) and he's trained with the Bulldogs team before. I think he's off to the kennel if available at 16, otherwise he could become a Lion at 18.

Freo will take LDU with 2. If Cerra makes it to 5 then they will grab him.

Edit: I think North will grab Cerra/Dow over Stephenson. If that happens, then I think Brayshow firms for pick 5.

1. Rayner
2. LDU
3. Dow
4. Cerra
5. Brayshow
6. Naughton

Yeah a lot of connections with us and Lachie, his brother also played in a VFL premiership for us

I have been closely following drafts since the mid 2000's and usually by this point on Bigfooty most people have a fair idea of the top 10, and in many cases pretty much know precisely where every player is going to be selected in the top 10, or at least close to it.

This year is different though as it really seems like no one knows. Even the top 1 draft pick is still unknown, and no one seems to have a clue what will happen after that. There seems to be about 6 or 7 players that people are pretty sure will be in the top 10, but even then no one seems certain.

#5 yes, but #2 no chance. If Rayner goes #1, then it'll be between LDU/Dow/Cerra for our fist pick. Brayshaw will be available at our second pick.

Thats true usually the best 2-3 have worked out their spots and predictions are pretty much accurate but this year i see it as being in clusters

1-5
6-12/14
10-20
20-30

Is that just because all three live within a 5km radius or Moorabbin?

Its a personal opinion on who goes where, but if Rayner fell to #2 l would obviously take him at the pies. That wont happen, so at #2 you could throw a net over a handful of players, including Brayshaw. To me Brayshaw is a ready made AFL player, that is going to be alot better than his brother and thats a personal opinion. Forgarty l think will fall out of the top 10, he has the physique to be a ready made AFL player, but not the mind. The thinking is that he wont play much, if any senior footy next year. He is a long term project player. In saying that the Pies may take him at 6, eventhough l think we have put a line through his name.

If Brisbane take Rayner, I would be very surprised if we don't take Davies-Uniacke @ #2. Brayshaw is a good player but not in the same league as Rayner, UDL and Dow. There is a reason why the three top prospects are almost unanimously agreed upon. Are Carlton and North going to take Brayshaw @ #3 or #4? I wouldn't have thought so, so why reach for him when he'll be available at #5? And even if they did take Brayshaw then we'd get to take one of Dow or Cerra which I assure you Fremantle wouldn't be upset about in the slightest. All for confirmation bias and personal opinions but there is also logic... and Fremantle taking Brayshaw @ #2 makes absolutely no sense.

I know we are keen on Murphy whether we use 6 on him is the question, and he wont last until our next pick 39. The club likes his ability to play forward or back, very good overhead, excellent below his knees for his size and uses the ball very well.
In my opinion he could be this years bolter at 6, if Brayshaw and Cerra our gone. lf Brayshaw, in particular is still there at 6, the Pies will take him. Coffield l dont believe we have an interest.

I heard the Opposite. But Murphy at 6 is a Real Possibility though

Pleaseeee be true.

Well I doubt it will be but Hine has gone for a Lower Ranked played before. Just look at De Goey where he was Rated around 10-20 but we took him at 5. Same as Pendles he was not Rated as a Top 5 Pick. Hine has been good with 1st Round Picks and Murphy might come a Very Good Player

I hope fogarty falls outside the top 10..all the way to pick 12 and then he becomes a crow as he has always wanted to be.

makes for an interesting draft, genuine excitement/surprise for nearly all 1st round picks.
