2017 Draft rumours

Thanks for taking the time out to answer the question posed to someone else.

I wouldn't though read Dows comments as having stated a preference. He may well be alluding to it, but it's not quite stating it.
It may have been prompted by a leading question for all we know.

Cerra? Again, a possible leading question emanating from him being linked to North after LDU, Rayner & Dow being touted as the top three.

Maybe they do want to go to North, but I wouldn't be stating either of the above as proof.

I do agree they would have been both prompted, especially Dow, with his grandad playing at north, but north fans can take what they can get. There's a certain romanticism to it.

Mark Blicavs is proof 2km time trials aren't necessarily an indicator as to how well you play the game.
Nobody has ever thought that a 2k TT is remotely an indication of how well you play the game. It’s an indicator of fitness/endurance, which is a requirement to play at the highest level.

And it's a lot easier to improve dramatically than your football skills.

Some people aren’t physically capable to play as a midfielder. It’s just impossible for them to be fit enough. So a poor 2km time shows a risk that the person may not be capable of being a full time midfielder at AFL level.

Would love to see what the Abletts would have done for 2k before they joined the VFL / AFL and they turned out ok.

Can't understand this fascination with being a midfielder. I can see this turning around soon where your guns play in the forward half again.

Dow's grandfather played for north.

Should he fall beyond the first two selections on draft night, there is little chance he slips further than Carlton’s Pick 3 or North Melbourne’s Pick 4.

For the mad Kangaroos fan, the chance of heading to Arden St is one he is still getting his head around.

“The thought of going to the club you support is pretty exciting,” Dow says.

“But anything can happen on draft night.”

Stephenson is one another poster has to find for me, but he did train at the club and there's a bomber's poster running here around saying that at least his dad is a big north fan. I personally don't think he has a major preference, he just wants to play at the top level.

Cerra:
The boy from Glen Waverley appears destined to become a 200-game player, linked to North Melbourne with selection No.4.

“I’ve spoken to most clubs in that range but they don’t give much away,” Cerra said.

“Every time someone asks me where I’m going, I’m in the same boat as them, I honestly don’t know but it would be awesome to go to North. Mum is a North supporter.”

None of the boys have done a naughton, but at least one will get the opportunity to play for a club they are at least fond of.

His first footy was in North Melbourne colours – his father Darren pushed him the way of the Roos, but the youngster later chose to barrack for the Brisbane Lions.

He must have been nervous.

His mum is a north supporter and he's publicly stated it would be great if he ended up at North.

Plus 3 out of the other top 6 have stated that north is their preference.

Fingers crossed for him I guess.
this seems to be similar to how everyone has no problem being drafted by brisbane until they get there and then want to leave

Interview, fact, and all 6 did.

All 6 like North's list and want to work with Brad Scott. Dow was told during the interview that Josh Kelly has committed to North for 2020.

Brayshaw because his dad played for North

Stephenson because he trained with North in the pre-season and follows North now.

Cerra wants to make his mum happy and thinks North have a real shot to do a bulldogs/richmond this year.

Rayner wants to prove that he is better than dustin martin and that North were better off selecting him.

LDU is good friends with EVW and likes that hypens are treated as equals at North.

The only reason they like North’s list is because they know they’ll get a game straight away!

Nobody likes their list.

anyone else heard the rumour that cerra doesn't want to apply for north?

You don't run 2k at a constant speed in a game, that's my issue. Its more about bursts and recovery. You might run hard at top speed anywhere up to 50m then back off, and then have some rest time. I'd be more interested in repeat sprints and testing the recovery time on each set.

But it does test endurance which indicates how many time you can repeat, it’s not everything but it’s an important peice

Players will say things about clubs they know may draft them. Ainsworth said something similar last year re the lions.

Also think Stephenson is a lions fan but unlikely he is drafted by us.
