2017 Draft rumours

Pies surely take Fogarty if he's there at 6

I have fingers crossed that if we get a mid at #2 like UDL, then we go the Fog at #5

Similarly if we get Rayner at #2 then we grab the next mid at #5, maybe Dow or Brayshaw

I thought Collingwood need a KPD more than a mid/fwd

Let's get back on track.

Can someone explain to me why Andrew Brayshaw, who has a brother playing in his home city of Melbourne for a club that should be on the rise, would be staying long term at Brisbane and won't get offered a big deal to come home to play with his brother?

Is it because Hamish might get drafted to Brisbane?

Yes, plenty of brothers don't play together but Andrew's professionalism is being used as a reason why he would stick it out with a club that drafts him, my experience with professional near psychopaths is that they work their butts off for the cause that gets them the furthest to their goal and success. Is his brand going to be large enough at Brisbane when he has that spot on Melbourne's list right there on offer?

The fierce loyalty and professionalism are mutually exclusive.

If Fremantle drafted Andrew Brayshaw I would expect Melbourne to chase him.

Yep.
LOB good chance to Carlton at 10 if Clarke and Stephenson are gone.

You?

Unfortunately not a rumour but some guesswork ...

I think Saints will go a mid and a tall at Picks 7 and 8. Not sure why Nathan Murphy hasn’t been linked to you but I think he has the attributes (very good 2km time). But if not him, then I think you’ll take Fogarty, again with your other pick being a pure mid.

Read somewhere your coach is a fan of Coffield too.

That's definitely the general consensus, at least some sort of key position player.

Fogarty could potentially play at an end.

If they draft a pure mid, media & fans will complain before even seeing the player.

Andrew's other brother is based in Brisbane with the army, maybe we could poach Angus and get the 3 boys back together.:) According to footywire Angus is out of contract at the end of 2018.

Edit- Momentarily forgot about Hamish, late or rooke draft him and get the 4 boys back together.

As I understand it, thereis another, older Brayshaw brother who lives in Qld. The thinking is Lions take Andrew, and also Hamish late in this draft, and a chance they might recruit Angus down the track.

That LOB info is from his camp, heard it in person yesterday. He also interviewed with Carlton yesterday (for Pick 10). Will depend on how the dominos fall but if he misses there, WCE are keen.

The incessant SOS shit isn't even close to interesting to anyone but yourself and the other numpties contributing to it.

If you don't have a rumour, STFU and stop clogging up an interesting thread with garbage.
No need to be rude.

While we wait for a rumour, who would you like to see the Kangaroos take with your draft picks? At 4, do you want Cerra, Raynor, Dow, LDU, Stephenson, Murphy (was rumoured yesterday), Brayshaw, Stephenson?

Considering the majority & strength of rumours the top 10 will fall like this imo:

1. Bris - Brayshaw
2. Freo - Rayner
3. Carl - Dow
4. NM - Stephenson
5. Freo - LDU
6. Coll - Fogerty
7. StK - Cerra
8. StK - Coffield
9. WB - Naughton
10. Carl - Bonar

The Lions are down to Brayshaw & Rayner, they will favour the former due to low risk, character & prioritisation of a mid.

Freo will happily punt on a guy with questionable ability to play midfield longterm seeing as they will get best avail midfielder at 5. LDU is rumoured to have questionable drive hence slides & Freo pounce.

Carlton will toss up between Dow & LDU but favour the slightly more damaging Dow who has a few extra weapons. Bonar at 10 compliments the Dow selection being a duel positioned & highly talented fwd-mid.

NM have long liked Stephenson & will pick him ahead of LDU & Cerra due to needing outside pace & goal scoring ability.

Collingwood could conceivably pick Naughton or Cerra but will favour Fogerty who can fill many positions of need.

St Kilda are in the position to pick best available mid therefore Cerra is a no brainer. Coffield compliments the Cerra selection with his pace, athletic profile & height.

The Dogs simply select best available & Naughton at 9 is a neat & obvious pick. Their other first will be used on best available mid (Clark, LFog, Constable).

Murphy has in fact been linked to us quite strongly by HedgeFund in particular on here and yes we've definitely been heavily linked to Coffield.

If there isn't a Cerra/Brayshaw/Stephenson type that slides to 7 and he's available, I reckon it's very likely that we'll grab Coffield, and pair him up with a "pure mid" type, with the other pick. Like Clark.

If by some chance a Cerra/Brayshaw slide to us and Coffield is gone then I'd say we grab Cerra/Brayshaw and that's when a Murphy/Bonar/Fogarty or even Naughton come into the mix with the other pick. For a bit of variety.

I don't think we need to take two "pure inside mid" types, so a very good chance we grab Coffield or Stephenson with one, or even both picks.

If you're relying on those guys to get you out of the bottom three then you're in worse shape than I thought. Surely the spotlight must be shined on SOS soon?
so salty

Anyways back to the topic. Heard from a source LDU is leading the pack clearly for pick 1 now.

Poster on our board who broke the Sam Mitchell to WC story last year got told by an employee of an opposition club they believe Collingwood will select Fogarty at 6 if he’s available.

Has to be there at 6 1st and I have not seen that post. Have Link to it Apex36

To be honest mate, who I like doesn't belong on this thread.

As far as rumours go, from what I've seen here and on the Roos board, we are likely most interested in Dow or Stephenson with our pick 4, both have links to the club and suit our needs. Would need brayshaw to go #1 to have a chance at Dow though.

Unknown Identity, who made the HS last year for breaking the news on here that there was a chance Sam Mitchell could be traded to West Coast, and who was the one that broke the news on here recently (again a couple of days before the media started running with it) that Jayden Stephenson had a heart complaint that had clubs wary, posted this on the Brisbane board last night:

Can confirm 100% you're taking Brayshaw or Rayner at 1.

He clearly has an extremely good contact or two, so to go onto another club's board and state something with 100% certainty I imagine it's highly likely to be the case.

who in the world has the same viewpoint on life at 24 or even 21 as they did as an 18 year old. There wouldn't be many that wouldn't prefer to stay in melbourne. So what? interstate teams just have to take worse players? Like obviously there are extreme cases but clubs need to be able to back their culture to retain players in the vast majority of cases, not just for players who can 'see themselves playing interstate for 10 years' at the age of 18
2 players that are at a similar level the club should take into consideration which is a better long term prospect. That includes flight risk. I would prefer a vic kid over an interstate kid at the same level.

Bris just lost a number 2 pick. They will take into consideration flight risk with 1. They can’t keep leaking top end talent.

If we overlooked LDU we need to sack our recruitment team.

Anyone who continually picks Stephenson to North at pick4 clearly has no concept of our strategy, or are just trolling. We will not be taking him. Cant kick, is skinny, has debatable AFL midfield capacity and the latest news of his heart issue only reaffirms this.
