You've watched Rayner this year and listened to his interviews? He's the number one showman player in this years draft pool. He loves the the limelight. Of course he wants to be at a big Vic club. Not in a position to spend endless hours as recruiter do analysising draft crop and can only go on highlights I've seen however Rayner might be worth the gamble if he gives the impression he isn't a attention seeker that wants the attention that the big Vic clubs offer.
All signs pointing to Murphy at 6, i think thats a stretch. I see him between 11 - 16. I don't think that unreasonable. Pies need a key back, Naughton would be the smartest pick to fill those needs over murphy.More to your laughable line of “we’re dumb enough to go off hype”.
You don't think the GH5 set our development back, in 2013 & 2014?
We really only started our current rebuild at the 2015, and then reset in 2016 with a change of coach and club management.
Our recruiters really haven't missed since 2013, except for Aish. You can only draft the talent that's there. And we are drafting 18 year old kids that still have 4 to 6 years of development in them before we really see what type of player they will be.
How many of the top top kids from 2015 Under 16 championships have progressed through to 2018? Spargo hasn't grown, Clark's development seemed to stall until moved in to the midfield this season, Ballenden had a real mixed last year and this year, Worpel hasn't progressed, Higgins ceiling at AFL level is under question, Darcy Fogarty had his season ruined by injury, and now Stehpenson's draft position is under question because of heart problem.
While many of the "lesser lights" kids have come through. Rayner wasn't added to the AFL academy until this year. In recent years we've seen kids not involved in the AFL academy rise to the top of the draft. If the AFL talent managers have trouble identifying the most talented kids, you'd think team recruiters would be in the same boat.
And as I said, once drafted this still years of development to go in to each kid before they make a consistent impact.
And we're doing all this in an AFL outpost, with little support or little desire to support us, from the AFL heartland.
Right now, may as well look at Brisbane as an expansion team in year 2, going in to year 3, without as many draft concessions, but with a few more experienced recruits.

if Brisbane take him at 1, but i think Rayner is a 90% lock otherwise think Freo claim him. Boarding country boy (unlikely to get home sick) who loves to surf (become best mates with Blakely and miss training).
So you're saying Freo has zero interest in Rayner at #2?Us taking LDU seems the only chance of that and that looks extremely unlikely at this point.
None. I don’t think. They have others rated higher on their boardSo you're saying Freo has zero interest in Rayner at #2?

I'd love Dow at Carlton, even if that means we miss out on Rayner. The Blues will have a choice to make as well. Dow would have to be in the mix at 3.
Link to media article please. That is what he has. They’ve already said that
Would love to see Freo take him, think He'd work really well there. Just the home sick factor plays a roll. LDU will be a star and they'd have a much higher chance of keeping him. Think LDU is a great replacement for Mundy and is the most safe.So you're saying Freo has zero interest in Rayner at #2?
Hine’s been keen on this kid since mid year. I’ll back his judgment it’s nothing to do with us taking him over hype. There will be plenty of key backs around our third round pick. All signs pointing to Murphy at 6, i think thats a stretch. I see him between 11 - 16. I don't think that unreasonable. No chance.North will finish in the top 8.
On Bigfooty maybe.Read it somewhere the other day
Think you'll find there is enough speed on the lions team, some of it is just young and inexperienced, some of it is coming back from injury, and some of it was just traded in.Of course GH5 was a set back never said anything about them, but who picked them so thats why I said lets hope they are getting better at it, Schache doesn't instill confidence. However that doesn't have anything to do with the obvious and that is the Lions list is to slow and nowhere near agile enough to compete in the AFL. Thats the recruiters fault! They must improve or get the boot in my opinion.
Yeah I can’t remember where it was now. Could have been bad info but remember reading it
No, more saying that it seems like they won't get the chance to make that decision. I suppose there's still a chance we take Brayshaw with one but it's looking less and less likely.
No doubt that Rayner @ 1 seems to be the latest, but based on what you guys are saying, Brayshaw @ 1 is a way in which LDU would slide to 3?Do you think the fact Sydney are looki

No, Freo wouldn’t take Rayner over LDUNo doubt that Rayner @ 1 seems to be the latest, but based on what you guys are saying, Brayshaw @ 1 is a way in which LDU would slide to 3?
maybe, I have Balta to Geelong at 24, Taylor going to GWS at 27, Clavarino to Saints at 35 maybe Petty?, you're a chance to be have brown bid on there aswell though and your next pick is 56 doubt much quality will be around there this draft. I think the difference between Naughton and a back at 38 is greater than Murphy and Liam Ryan or MooreHine’s been keen on this kid since mid year. bad info im thinking...my logic is this...if its dangerous and risky he wouldnt be allowed to play...simpleYeah I can’t remember where it was now. Could have been bad info but remember reading it
2 ways i see it happening. No doubt that Rayner @ 1 seems to be the latest, but based on what you guys are saying, Brayshaw @ 1 is a way in which LDU would slide to 3?
2 ways i see it happening.
1. Rayner falls to 2 and freo take him and back the culture to make him stay
2. They get scared Brayshaw will be taken by the Roos
I think they've got to rate LDU above Brayshaw though
Lol what??? Nothing to do with who is our best option? We might take a player because another team is interested? That’s a new low for this thread.
Again there is a chance and it’s $6. We are a better chance to play finals than a Blue spoon. After what Leicester City did how anyone can say no chance is mind bottling. Like when your thoughts get trapped in a bottle. No chance.
