A public forum... ha ha ha this is big footy, like anyone cares or follows a public forum such as big footy a part from those bored at work, sitting on their ass at home etc.

I can just see Greg Swann ringing the police as we speak ha ha

I went to a lions fan forum at the Gabba a few months ago and met a staff member who has an account on BF and reads and contributes to the Lions board.

A players father is also a regular poster on this board fitz.

For Brisbane, l would put character on par with skill level.
Well said. The character of the yoing men we draft into the club is just as important as their skills and potential.

Totally agree. In the recent Talking Footy podcast Fages was on, he said something to the effect that character is the first thing they're looking for when drafting and building a list.

Fair to say Fagen wouldn't have drafted Aish with his entitled attitude. Nothing says poor character more then this...

How long did Collingwood sign Aish for? He'd be a little nervous if he's on a 2yr deal...honestly hasn't improved at all since his promising debut season.

Because kids didn't do drugs in the 80s :drunk:.

Back the system we have up here to make good of any player.

I don't think everyone realises just how fantastic our development/support staff are.

Plenty of AFL players take drugs. The playing group is so strong that I seriously doubt one player even with a bit of baggage would be able to cause that much of dent to the culture.

This isn't the days of Voss people!!!

In fact I hope we draft Rayner and I hope he turns into a ****ing gun for us. All you doubters can eat your words!! Back FAGAN, back the club.

No better word to describe aish than entitled. Not much of a gentleman either by the looks. Stunning lady tho. He hasnt liked going back to the vfl at the pies. We may have dodged a bullet there.

Brander I view as 50/50 to be available to the Pies at this stage. He's someone you need to plan both for if he is there, and if he isn't.

Your comment regarding Brander is an interesting one. He's actually a good size at 194cm, 89kg. Physically I'm not all that concerned.

Watching Bendigo on the weekend, while their midfield was soundly beaten and the delivery was minimal, Brander was dropping sitters - including uncontested chest-marks - probably dropping around x2-3 overall marks that you'd expect 10/10 would be taken by any key forward.

I'm still deciding myself whether Brander is the player I'd want at pick 6. I'm also weighing up whether I favour him as a key forward or key defender.

He's probably something like a Ben Reid equivalent in this draft. Could be a key forward. Could be a key defender. Probably takes a few years to develop. Uses it pretty well but not a contested marking force or someone down back who is all that gifted shutting down opponents.

At 36 I see the chance for some kpps being there. Maybe Coleman-Jones as a key forward/ruckman. Maybe Clavarino as a key defender who can shut down opponents but also is much improved as an intercept mark and kick. If either are there I'd pick them in a hurry. If Mason Cox gets traded, I'd make a strong play for Brayden Crossley (Gold Coast academy) who I feel is this years best ruckman and more advanced than people are giving him credit for - with that Shane Mumford style game with a similar physical profile.

The rumours regarding Brisbane are as follows:
1. Rayner is not Brisbane's preferred option.
2. Dow is believed to be Brisbane's favoured option/viewed by Brisbane as this years best mid.
3. Don't mind moving down the draft if it means players/other good picks can be added as per last year moving pick 2 down to pick 3 to get another first round pick (Berry).

Overall Brisbane appear open minded without being all that lock into anything.

Genuine chance late/rookie. Has shown signs (liked the look of him for Allies) but isn't one of this years most highly touted key forwards.

You'd be lucky if Ballenden isn't big on before 18. I wouldn't be averse to Collingwood bidding pick 6 to get him.

If Brisbane were so lucky..

An example of what Brisbane might like could be as follows:

1. Dow
14. Coffield
18. Worpel

Lever to Melbourne is sounding better than 50% from my sources. The belief in the industry is he'll chase the money and join Melbourne who are tabling the best offer... at this stage.

If Melbourne go into the draft with pick 10. Lockie O'Brien might be one who is thereabouts and considered for some outside pace and skill. Aaron Naughton may be considered as an intercepting 3rd tall or key defender. Andrew Brayshaw as an inside/outside mid also could work and go around 10ish.

Sharing from KMs thread.

If we rate him there we'll take him, if not Collingwood can have him.

I don't really see how it would be a horror outcome.

We would match it, but it would suck as there's a good chance a good mid will be around the port pick.

If we don't rate him we won't match it?

Plenty of academy guys we didn't rate at where they were taken so didn't match. IIRC reading someone who went to the Melbourne draft function and the recruitment teams spoke of this exact scenario with Declan Watson was it?

Nothing sucks about getting a top 10 rated KPP.

If he's anything like our last first round KPP from the academy I don't think anyone would be complaining.

That would be a horror outcome for us if the Pies bid on Connor Ballenden at pick 6.
We pick Ballenden up for a second rounder in 2019 then. Only a fools mob would bid on a player they wouldn't be prepared to take themselves.
