Can't see a team picking L O'Brien before pick 12.

I really like O'Brien, understand the concerns about his contested work, but someone who is meant to be an elite runner, with good speed and ball usage should be able to forge a decent career.

I think he will really interest a couple of team before that pick. Stkilda, Bulldogs and Melbourne (if they keep their pick) all have decent inside Mids, could be a luxury pick they can all afford to make.

According to my Crows mate not many fans are too upset about the Queensland rumours. Far too busy filling their daks over Lever.

Andrew Gaff.

When you live in Adelaide you watch him every week. I think he might be the worst kick in the game

Well he can sure build up a speed alright.

Only problem is that he seems to get totally unco with his kicking when he's running at full tilt.

Total butchery by foot seems to be the norm from what I've seen of him. Of course that's not to say this deficiency in his game can't be fixed with proper coaching and guidamce.

We can't afford aball butcher in a developing team so for this reason I'd be treading a bit cautiously woth trading him in. At the moment, I think Pick 18 is overs.

Surprised by all this noise about Ballenden inside the top 10. At this stage, I don't think he gets a bid before pick 18 (though we know predicted draft picks chop and change in the last few weeks).

I'll be interested to see the phantoms that come out in October.

Regardless, the club did pretty well to judge the noise last year, and traded pick 2 cleverly into pick 3 (admittedly, at the time I was against it, but in hindsight, the club knew what they were doing). I'd trust that the club would have their ear to the ground, would know who rates Ballenden roughly where, and will trade if necessary to maximise further picks.

Of course, the club may also just want to get inside the top 10 with their second pick, so may do the trade regardless.

Complete agree look at Scully, Whitfield, Gaff and Bradley Hill. All elite runners and great ball users which we are missing.

Which one would you prefer?
It appears from an outsiders point of view(In other words take this with a grain of salt) that Tim Kelly is far more motivated/committed to making it in the AFL. He's been invited to the National Combine as well so he has at least 5 clubs interested and genuinely seems like he has a good chance of getting selected in the national draft. For me Liam Ryan could be anything with his ability but rumour has it he doesn't want to leave WA and lacks the motivation to make it in the AFL. Perhaps Ryan is happy to just cruise along in the WAFL, kicking a shit tonne of goals each year and that's fair enough. Not everyone has the desire/want to play AFL at the highest level. So for these reasons I'd quite like Kelly if I had a choice. His skill set looks promising. He wins the contested footy but can burst out of the stoppage with a turn of pace, he has nice foot skills and can kick goals. Could be a real find as a mature aged midfielder(He's aged 23). Tim Kelly is someone we could potentially look at with a late pick in the ND or even the 1st pick in the PSD.

If we keep pick 12 I hope we get a look at Hunter Clark. Love the way he takes the game on, also he's another Vic Country boy which we seem quite fond of

Clark is the one I want, an absolute tuff nut at the contest, kicks well off both feet, has good size, he is starting to really string some dominate performances to together through TAC playing as pure mid opposed to u18s champs where he played off hb and a wing,
Hopefully he is still there at pick 12.

He definately has his fans on BF and it would be interesting to see how he was rated in Clubland but I am also a fan. I suspect due to his current run of form that he actually might just be in the top 10 range. He is a tough nut and attacks the footy in the contest definately. He primarily was a midfielder in his earlier teens and then placed at HBF but his move to the inside has shown a lot of promise. Would be very happy to acquire him especially after seeing Berry's transition to the midfield.

I've noted it before but I find it interesting with my personal views on specific types
changing when the AFL finals footy starts. It really is all about contested footy and the more players who can win their own ball and stand up in tight hard contests are the exact type we need.

If we acquire another top 10 pick there's pretty good odds that with the evenness of this draft by the time it comes up our second-fifth preference may even still be on the board. If Ballenden is rated a mid to late first rounder by us and is bid on in the top 10 I think we would let him go in that case. Each club's draft board is going to start diverging a lot earlier than usual this year and will throw up some pretty unexpected results.

We are NOT giving Ballenden up, no matter where the bid lands. Not worth speculating.
I dunno. Collingwood's first pick would be pushing it IMO. That's unlikely to occur but shows that we can't be 100% sure.

We'd match the pies pick. Earlier would be pushing it but the bid is unlikely to land any earlier than 6. Ballenden will be important to our team and showed on the weekend why. With the discount we'll match short of a pick 2-4 bid imo.

So that wouldn't be no matter where the pick lands then..
