Excuse my ignorance lol but we have in the lions statement today picks 1,15,18, 40,44,52n93. We have delisted 2 players from the senior list...

does this mean 2 rookies auto go onto senior list?

On the Roar Deal podcast, Noble said with our 3 first rounders we'll be looking to draft midfielders.

Cheers.

Just re-listened and firstly he says that our first three picks will be “predominantly midfielders” and then he talks about adding three talented guys to bolster that area of the ground.

It does seem that the strategy isn’t to go tall. I’d suggest “predominantly midfielders” might keep the door open for a guy like Rayner who is not a pure midfielder but can help out in that area.

With the delisitngs of KPP’s Freeman, Close, Hammer and Schache being traded don’t be suprised to hear this guys name called. Larke medalist as well and one of the better draft interviews I’ve seen.

Now I know why he has interviewed extremely well with our club. Uni student as well so he will have a life outside of the footy club which has been something new draftees have struggled with massively when they come here. I recall Docherty saying playing footy in Brisbane is 'insular' and he struggled with that. I know for a fact we have pathways in place now to encourage players to do extra activities outside of footy to take their minds off things though so the club knows it's a problem we have and if Oscar is already partaking then it would be a massive tick. I reckon if the likes of Hunter/ Brayshaw etc are off the board come pick 15 we will take best available and that could be Oscar.

Yeah super impressive. You actually get a sense he's happy to move anywhere, rather than just paying lip service. A very well grounded, mature and confident young man with leadership qualities.

With Gunston at Hawthorn and Lynch at Adelaide, can certainly understand why Fagan & Noble would be interested in a player to play third tall role. A third tall would provide great flexibility, providing difficult matchups on smaller backlines, as well as the ability to work up the ground, and provide more defensive pressure than a genuine tall. And should we go with a key forward and ruck-forward as our set up, he could serve as second marking target while the other big man has a turn in the ruck.

I don't think Paparone is even a third tall. Genuinely plays small.

Pap is an interesting prospect. Looked to have taken a big step in his development only to get injured and miss pretty much a year + of football. Make or break year for pap in 2018 one would think.

Ya, even tho he has gained a bit of muscle, he is so weak. Feels like wind can blow him over. Got no idea why we played him in the backline.
The first year he was played in the backline was the best footy he ever played. Has been cruelled by injury since.

He can play.

Just had a really terrible run with injuries,

Good luck for 2018 Paps

Really like Allan. Might be a bit short but plays taller. I disagree that we're flush for forwards, especially competent forwards.

Thats interesting indeed S.M. You may also like to factor in this inside info.I got today.Interviews are proceeding as we speak. Dow,surprisingly to me for some reason,is considered the most likely go home risk, and that is now very much against him.Rayner, has limitations at present, but presented verywell, and it is thought he is very suited to the off field and socialisation factors. He is liked by his team mates. On the other hand LDU,is seen as quiet, and maybe lacking drive.Concerns also after Scache, and personality type. The big mover ,is Brayshaw, who ticks all boxes and not many do in this draft, for our needs. He understands the job,is a dedicated professional, from a family who knows what its like, and is ready to play as contracted, and make a life for himself.even in Brisbane apparently! Cerra, Bailey and Clarke remain of interest, the latter two not first picks of course...I guess.Ballenden should be after pick three, given the only clubs who might need him have such early picks...they wont be using them on him.

I agree with your disagreement.

With Schache, Close and Hammelman out and potentially just Ballenden in, we are looking a little thin in the tall forwards department again.

A few of the phantom drafters are very bullish on Adam Cerra, I like Andrew Brayshaw, he could end up being the Taranto/Oliver of this years draft, all the way to pick 1.

I think he looked okay as an intercept player down back but the problem he had when playing down back was that everyone was pushing him around so if he ever was 1 out he wouldn't fair well. Remember specifically it costing us

That was 2 years into his career as a kpp sized player though - not uncommon.

Well thats just great.... Big problems with all 3. The 1 year we get the number 1 pick... As much as l wanted Dow, l really don't want them leaving, so l guess l will have to go for Brayshaw

Awesome responses and a really confident, switched-on unit. These are the sorts of personalities we need.

What is Oscar Allen's position? Don't really know anthing about him, if he is a 3rd tall how different is he to Papperone?
Paparone can't break his way out of a wet paper bag. I think he is a product of the Voss 'running height' experiment which has merit but you have to actually know how to play football. I do feel for the kid but just can't see a spot for him under Fagan and the direction we seem to be heading down.

Still don't see any real reasons NOT to take Rayner.

The main "fear" about him seems to be by association.....ie he's Vic Metro
