The only surprise name there would be Nicholas Shipley, haven't heard him mentioned him by anyone as a top 20-25 possibility.

Interesting coz part of it was word for word from someone I read on bf yesterday.

Probably just because he lives just down the road. :D

His quality re: Brisbane seems to be hit or miss though.

In general the phantom draft board (including KM) is useful for getting an idea about the various players and their strengths, weaknesses, and a wide range of where they might go, but their pick to player predictions are not very predictive.
Completely agree. Pretty much read the board, then go find videos of the players or games.

As for actual phantom drafts, no ones ever close until the day before the draft. Even now, there’s a lot movement on various posters boards.

I think Ed Richards would really appeal to Fagan/our recruiters as a fast, line breaker with an elite left foot kick. Has close family ties to Collingwood and has grown up supporting them so that could be a concern but has also said he is happy to go to any club willing to give him a chance. Not sure if he is on our radar but he is definitely the "type" of player who would suit Fagan's game style with a skill set that would help execute quick, precise ball movement. Perhaps Jack Petrucelle is more likely though if we go down that path of adding more speed/attacking flair to our list which we have already started to address with the addition of Charlie Cameron.

Knightmare's phantom isn't the same thing as what is likely to happen.

All that's guaranteed with KM phantom is that any academy player is going to be rated significantly higher than anyone else.

Petrucelle can win his own ball which is a massive plus when it comes to a HBF ball carrier. Not many in the AFL can do so consistently. Still I'm not sold on his skills or his ability to read the play.
This is true but one does need to take into account his relatively late start to Australian rules.

It's been true all year as per previous years with him the only published pundit to rate Ballenden top 15 regularly and Crossley similarly, but he appears to be hedging his bets now with Ballenden dropping all the way to 40 in his mock draft.

THe Foxsports Phantom draft has us taking Rayner, Lachie Fogarty and Joel Garner

bit underwhelmed by that, while I was initially keen on Rayner think LDU is a better fit for us and if we get him and he stays he could honestly set up our midfield with Berry for the next 10 years.

with our second pick wouldn't mind Fogarty if we know what his pace etc is like, Petruccle or Lachie o Brien for our third, Garner is potentially available for our last pick surely

That trio of players would actually make a lot of sense to me.

Rayner's the best player, pair him up with Fogarty like we did McLuggage+Berry and then draft an elite character with excellent leadership credentials...

Garner learning the ropes off Hodge is pretty much a match made in heaven too

fogarty and garner seem a little vanilla, we need speed and excellent kicks

I was going to comment something similar.

You mean our pick in the 50's or what ever pick the residual points from matching Ballenden lands at?

Garner should be a top 30 selection. But it's interesting seeing us draft 3 Vic City kids.

I know there are others that aren't such a fan but I am still hoping that the Ballenden bid comes late enough that we still have a 2nd pick in the 40's which could be used on James Worpel. Just seems like Matho mkII i.e. drifts badly in his draft year but is a good kid with plenty of ability and character and will come good in a professional environment

Edit - assuming Worpel lasts that long of course

Are we certain that if we rerookie Cian he retains his Cat B status? If not, after three first round picks, Ballenden, Payne, and rerookieing Cian & Claye, we're out of senior/cat A spots.

It'd be lovely if Oskar Baker makes it through for us to pick him up a zone rookie selection (that would be cat B), though that's starting to look a little iffy.

We have 6 Senior list spots I think, but to be honest I'm not certain how the change to the rookie list side of things impacts that.

I am thinking pick 1, 15, 18, Ballenden, Payne and then 1 more pick. That fills the senior list.

We currently have 3 Cat A rookies, but to be honest I don't know what the limit is for Cat A and B
