You have had your chest puffed up from the start and insist on making antagonistic counterpoints to arguments people aren’t even making.

You seem absolutely blind to how you are coming off but are getting exactly what you deserve.

Because it's been pointed out you are not backing any of you claims with actual evidence or putting up a proper discussion. You keep making erroneous statements as if they are fact without providing any supporting evidence.

Nor are you comparing similar players from previous drafts to our 2016 draftees.

There's one Dangerfield type player in this years draft, Paddy Dow. He reportedly does not want to move interstate, and it appears he doesn't even want Carlton to draft him, having a preference to play at North. The other discussion about Dow is that physically he's not ready to play such a role at AFL level, but given a couple of preseasons, he should make a significant impact.

Not every kid shows what they are capable of in their first season.

I think that this discussion has run its course to be honest and I'm sure people are getting tired of it. Any further arguments about it from either side will be deleted and second ones will be infracted. Let's get back on topic, me included

Bugger, I was just into my fourth paragraph and it was a beauty.

Isnt it amazing how much a year or even in some cases a couple of weeks can change a players draft value. I remember us discussing Worpel as a top five pick not that long ago and now it is looking likely he slides into the third round. This despite a pretty decent u18 carnival and TAC season. Our own Ballenden was still being spoken about as a potential No. 1 not that long ago either. Although in his case despite some late NEAFL form he had a largely unimpressive year. I also recall about a year ago this draft was being thought of as being a good one for key position players, with Ballenden, Brander, Coleman Jones and Hayes looking likely top ten picks. Will be very interesting to see how it all ends up.
Would love for Worpel to slide to our pick 44. I know he's got his knocks, and understandable why, but really, he's good at what he's good at, and if he plays to his strengths, he could be a very handy player.

Of course, now I'll be riding it right through the 30s, watch him get to our pick........ And then we'll take someone I've never heard of.

Yep - I'm a big Worpel fan too and would love to see us draft him. Just reminds me of another Mathieson, good bloke to have around the club and loves sticking his head over the ball (something we need more of)

Yep, but it always happens.

The record for a top 25 prospect from the start of the year (not even last year!), according to https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dr...t/news-story/6172ca35e3acff0e5b4ec4d9ba3e4e84, isn't great:

Stephenson wants to get drafted, naturally he'll say that.

Keep in mind that it's not just us who have ruled him out. All clubs have seen how talented he is, so for him to fall past so many (if he does) will be proof enough of how big a concern his heart is.

You gotta feel for the kid - a Justin Clark type disappointment.

It seems that Fagan and Noble really rate leadership qualities, which is why Brayshaw is heavily in the mix for pick 1. If we do indeed go with Rayner at 1 and say Fogarty at 15, what would people's thoughts be on taking Joel Garner at 18? Seems to be a bit of a reach and may not perfectly fit our needs, but apparantly has leadership in spades and may satisfy Fagan/Nobles desire for a player with this leadership potential. Just read another article about him and he also mentions that if he is lucky enough to get into the AFL system, he has ambitions to become a future captain one day. Seems like the type of young man that u would love to have at the club character wise. I must admit that I don't know a lot about him as a player, but just a thought.

Garner idolises Luke Hodge too. Would not be unhappy with that pick.

"that our recruiters haven’t factored in all the available evidence before making a considered decision."

To me this is blind loyalty.

We have a very slow list because recruiters haven't put enough importance on speed and agility.

In my opinion only an inside ball winning freak (Blacky) gets a free pass on speed and agility and two or three per 22 is all thats required.

Iirc blacky was a state level 400m runner - might not be great over 10m but can go slightly slower for longer. Great 4th quartet player.

I think he's getting a bit past it these days but if he wants to give AFL a go, why not?

(Sadly most of this year's draftees would never have gotten a chance to see him play...)
