ALFPA will never ever sign off on 90% salary cap for bottom clubs... goes against everything they have fought for. Less salary cap = less player payments.

Worse, it could mean those clubs can't maintain full lists.ALFPA will never ever sign off on 90% salary cap for bottom clubs... goes against everything they have fought for. Less salary cap = less player payments.

On current form - back end of the first round at best. And in Twomey's podcast today, still talking about Ballenden as a top 10 pick.
It was only one game but have listened/read to a few who have seen him play and do see his future as a ruckman as do I. You would think that actual recruiters could see that as well and when it comes to first round picks you don't gamble those. I see Ports pick from 11 to 14 and just can't see it personally. On current form - back end of the first round at best.
It will be if a team takes the gamble just before Ports pick and see if we match.
Which i think we will. Which is why at this stage i think someone will bid before that port pick. (Likely Richmond) if their pick is before and if Leppa rates him.
We all know Twomey talks to scouts and recruiters. Either they are telling him Ballenden is a top 10 forward prospect, or ...It was only one game but have listened/read to a few who have seen him play and do see his future as a ruckman as do I. Twomey's still waiting for Ballenden to put in a performance that supports his opinion. He says it every show, "Ballenden is a top 10 prospect who hasn't yet performed this year, and we're just waiting for that one game where he puts it all together and performs like we think he can".Yeah. Although he (like most people) can form an early opinion on someone and runs with it for a while unless something happens to shift that view.
Probably off to the Hawks.I asked one of the BF phantom drafters to rate under ager Izak Rankine if he was available this year, his reply was pick 1 this year and he would walk into any clubs first 22 right now. Same PD would have had him very high in last years draft as a 16 year old ahead of the likes of Florent and Simpkin.
Everyone is rating him extremely highly, pity we wont have pick 1 next year to grab him.Probably off to the Hawks.
Just as well Rankine isn't rated the number one prospect in next years draft. Ask Chris25 who he would draft first next year, Rankine or Jack Lukosius.I asked one of the BF phantom drafters to rate under ager Izak Rankine if he was available this year, his reply was pick 1 this year and he would walk into any clubs first 22 right now. No, he's in Swans academy - error from the journo
Reports are rain for the Vic M v Vic C game this weekend. Not good for the big men.If Sutherland opts for the draft he could be too good to pass on. Everyone who has seen him play says he is possibly the best of the crop. 195cm and can play in the midfield.
I can see your point but I think that he went early with him and he's holding on to it in a mind of way to be proven right. I did listen to his podcast and it was interesting to hear him say it reminded him of Peter Wrights season but a early during that season he was being touted as a number one pick. I have said before that I see him in that mould of Peter Wright but I'm struggling to see a Round 1 pick player in Ballenden. We all know Twomey talks to scouts and recruiters. Add the King twins in there and I get the feeling that it could actually be an outstanding draft. It'll be interesting to see how it goes but it's a long way out. I wonder if recruiters have one eye on the next season as well as this when they think of who to recruit. Still feel we need to keep building midfield depth over this and next season as in today's footy you do need to bat almost 10 deep but Rankine looks like a definite match winner in the Wingard model.Just as well Rankine isn't rated the number one prospect in next years draft. Yeah, although the ground won't be heavy, Punt Road has one of the better surfaces around.Reports are rain for the Vic M v Vic C game this weekend. Not good for the big men.

What you have to do is forget that he is an academy pick, remove the emotion from it and watch him play to see how you should rate him and it makes it easier to rate him.I agree with this. When I take my tin foil hat off. Most the time, I wonder if Twomey has something against Brisbane. Last year when ever the PP conversation came up, he was firmly in the "Brisbane don't need/deserve a PP". I sometimes wonder if Twomey wants us to have to use the Port pick to match a bid instead of being able to draft two kids from the open draft.
