And Harry Anglo-Saxon next year strangely enoughWA had Tim English last year and have Callan England this year. Just saying.
Evening all, long time between drinks.
I attended the WA v Allies game today and thought i might share my observations given the limited coverage of the game.
Connor ballenden - breakout performance and the first time I have seen top 5 player potential. Absolutely dominant, particularly in the 1st quarter and the last quarter. Numerous intercept marks, many contested. Pleasingly reliable by foot and surprisingly disciplined with his defensive efforts. Knew when to leave his man and spoiled numerous attacks. Best bigman on the pitch and the score would have been much higher but for his work. Best on imo.
Jack clayton - barely noticed him sadly, really did nothing to catch the eye. Allies midfield and half backline was soundly beaten.

Hawthorn will have to decide on Anderson as a father and son
I like Stephenson. He could go either way a absolute star in the Fyfe mould or a draft bust. Some similarities between the two especially a young forward flanker Fyfe. Lions supporter as well not that it means much.Just wanted to recommend the highlights video of Sheehan and Twomey of last week's games. Like the Cup, into the home stretch and the challenges are coming from everywhere. Ballendon,as has been pointed out,has finally laid it down in a terrific audition.Complicated our picks unfortunately! Hawthorn will have to decide on Anderson as a father and son ,he is class.Naish, same for Richmond.Worpel,Miers and Raynor all featured.Stephenson and the big Hyphen, will be a big focus this weekend for us.
I just cant get into Stephenson. Just seems like one of those players who isnt quiet a mid, isnt quiet a forward. can see him being one of those almost star players.
This stage, id love the hyphen and Worpel.
On Cal Twomey's podcast today, some one asked Twomey in the twitter question segemnt where he rates Worpel at the moment. His replay, "Outside the top 30 at the moment..."
Didn't give a reason. For real? For what reason?
Didn't give a reason.
Worpel has had one constant criticism from all draft watchers/commentators this year. His inaccurate kicking. And it's the same criticism that's been levelled at Mathieson. That he wins the ball in the contest and kicks it out without a target.
A lot was made of his performance on the weekend. In that he took that extra half second, lowered his eyes and identified a target before kicking the ball.
Who is the head scout? Is it Graeme Hadley?Well, whoever we get, l have full faith that our guys will pick the right player. Chosen very good ones the last few years.
At what point do we start leaking stories about Ballenden getting up to naughty stuff at school camp?

I say we go early. The second he has a dominant game up forward.
I say we go early.
Umm...can you not ruin the boy's life, please? At what point do we start leaking stories about Ballenden getting up to naughty stuff at school camp?
Corrected.....Hawks however ,needing class mids badly, will be very interested.Only if they time travel back in a Delorean and get his dad to play 17 more games in the Poo & Wee.
They were saying the same of Berry,a beautiful kick of the footy.Well, whoever we get, l have full faith that our guys will pick the right player. Chosen very good ones the last few years.
