It is starting to reach a point where I think we need to seriously consider selecting Rayner with pick 1 for his ability in the forward line alone. Even if he just pinch hits in the midfield at AFL level whilst spending the majority of his time in the forward line. He is a freak inside the forward 50. He's just so dangerous both in the air and at ground level and such a strong, powerful and skilful player. The thought of having Hipwood and Rayner in our forward line for the next decade is very exciting.

I know our main aim is to add midfield talent but we'll still have Port's pick and our second rounder plus the likes of Berry, McCluggage, Mathieson, Keays, Witherden and Cox already gives our future midfield a nice base to build upon.

It may end up being an agonising choice between him and Rayner but part of me wants the classy sure thing rather than the epic risk/reward type. Might hurt down the line if Rayner turns into a Fyfe/Bont for someone else but if LDU could be a Luke Power type 250 game engine room accumulator with quality (if not profoundly damaging) disposal that's hard to pass up.

Vic Country has been good to us. South Australia worries me a bit.
