Most of the so called "highlight" videos I have been watching from the championships have been showing a lot of pretty ordinary kicks, is this just bad editing or is the overall skill factor at a low level?

Considering that Fagan/Conole have made it abundantly clear that we will be looking at elite disposal skills who do our BL draft gurus think are the best in this area of the draft pool?

Note- I have not watched any full games as of yet.
I think the general problem, not just with kicking, was players would do something impressive but would follow it up with a howler or a turnover. There was really no consistency from any of the top-level players that would make you say "wow, this is the guy".

Found a copy of the new Inside Football (print version). But here are his Top 20 rankings:

1. Rayner
2. LDU
3. Sutherland
4. Constable
5. Cerra
6. Joel Garner
7. Sam Hayes
8. Coffield
9. Stephenson
10. Paddy Dow
11. D. Fogarty o_O
12. O'Brien
13. Brander o_O
14. Ling
15. Jack Higgins
16. Petruccelle
17. Patrick Naish (Richmond F/S)
18. Oscar Allen
19. Andrew Brayshaw (yep, brother of Angus)
20. Noah Balta

21. Connor Ballenden
If this is how the dominoes fell on draft night I'd probably do cartwheels. Obviously at 1 we can do as we please with Rayner/LDU but Higgins at 15 would be terrific. Then we could even get Hunter Clark OR Worpel before having to match a bid on Ballenden (if we choose to).

That's just about the dream scenario

Yeah, I'd be happy with 2 before Ballenden...3 would be outlandish :)

You also need to factor one of those draft picks being used to acquire Charlie Cameron from the Crows.

Interesting that LDU and Darcy Fogarty didn't make the All Australian team.

Yeah I must admit that is a bit of a knock. Reading reports he had a very impresive first game but didnt dominate in the others. He did however kick a couple of classy goals.
I wonder how many guys have gone pick 1 without being u18 AA. Top 5 for that matter?

Also despite the hype that the underagers dominated there doesn't appear to be many in the AA team.

Off the top of my head Clayton Oliver didnt even play the champs and went at 4

Yeah, but played out of his skin in the last few TAC Cup matches and won the Morrish medal. His form gradually improved throughout the year, which is what recruiters are looking for at that age.

A senior recruiter I know questioned how Fogarty made the team at the expense of others that missed out.
Lukosius could consider himself unlucky I reckon.

I wouldn't get too hung up on positions -like the senior AA, if you're deemed worthy they will find a spot for you.

I reckon a few guys picked on reputation and not performance.

Brander should not be in.

Rayner should be a forward.

Sam Walsh should be in ahead of Naish.
If it increases the likelihood of Richmond having to match an early bid on Naish, not a bad outcome. It probably means one less bid for Ballenden.
