Not being talked about much for us but Adam Cerra is a-hell-of-a player!
Also not who we usually look at (Vic Metro city boy) but jeez he can play. Smooth mover, great vision and tackles too.

There are now 5 players I am more than happy to take at pick 1-2, Rayner, LDU, Stephenson, Fogarty or Cerra. Will be another fun draft.

The rest of the TAC Cup season is going to be incredibly fascinating. So many lingering questions about the top 20 or so players that need to be answered.
Hoping it will be better when all the private school kids join back in.

He goes well, his school side is doing it tough, but he hangs in,they are always disadvantaged against big all boys schools. Wouldnt discount Spargo as a later pick,if Higgins goes early. Some players are floating up and down the order, and its very even, and therefore hard to pick, finals of TAC may clarify things.

From the highlights, there weren't many times where he had a direct opponent. Looked very loose.

A lot was making the play on the rebound. Many were reading the flight and leaving his man. That's what you do when you intercept. Looked like very good defender's footy to me.

The Allies were varying their match ups down back, but he always had an opponent at centre and clearance stoppages. Was on Sutherland at times, but not always.

Personally feel pick ~18 is a lot to give for Charlie Cameron, has shown glimpses but has not shown more than that so far.

I could see Gold Coast targeting pick 1, after drafting Bowes and Brodie last year Rayner would make sense for them. Would be interesting if we were offered pick 3 & 2 x mid 20s picks.
Would enable us to land a LDU/Cerra etc, Cameron, and have insurance for Ballenden or even draft a sliding Worpel/Clark.

Totally agree. From the times I have watched him play, he looks so comfortable playing in defence.

Elite for any size. Be so good having someone who can kick like that coming out of defence taking big intercept marks setting up play.

And then kick 5 as a forward while Hipwood intercepts down back just to **** with the opposition.

Why would GC do that though when they just got Ainsworth last year.

They have far too many second founders this year to use, considering they'll likely get one if Ablett leaves. Trading up to get the best goal kicking mid as a future replacement would make sense.
Even with Rayners supposed endurance issues, he'd see mid time well before Ainsworth. Different players.

The point is that Gold Coast have more picks than they need, so if they have a clear #1 on their board I could see them attempting to trade up.

Between Witherden, McStay and potentially Ballenden, that is a lot of good kicking coming out of the backline.

I wouldn't mind doing that. We still get LDU which, imo, is our no.1 target and get a couple of 2nd rounders.
However, realistically, l think we would want a higher pick than a 2nd rounder. Somewhere around 15 like last year
Gold Coast currently has pick 5 - no guarantee we get LDU with that pick.
And i would think if we were to trade pick 1 it would be for 2 picks before ports pick and hopefully before a bid for ballenden.
The whole idea is to maximize high end talent on the list.
2 picks in the 20's in this draft is very speculative.

Apologies that my original posts main point was not clear- I intended to point out that acquiring one or two of gold coasts second rounders could aid us in potentially landing a Charlie Cameron, withoutout losing our third selection, but still have currency to match a Ballenden bid.
Trading down was merely a possible avenue (I am personally pro Rayner and prefer we don't trade #1).

Saints currently have picks 6 and 12, that would be more like it for pick 1 although I wouldn't do it for that even though the points value is very similar pick 1- 3000 and picks 6&12- 3019.

Wouldn't want to drop any lower than pick 3 if we traded out pick 1, eg. pick 3 and a pick in the mid teens, as a previous poster said similar to the deal we did with the Giants.
