Doing a bit of draft reading and Cedric Cox's cousin and Jarrod Berry's brother will be in the North Ballarat Rebels (name now changed to Greater Western Victoria Rebels) this year in the TAC cup.

Jayden Stephenson is one we should look at very closely. He is a big Lions supporter and member and has close family in Brisbane. He played at my sons footy club in UFTG and is a ripper kid!

Already a dangerous forward but will be lethal if he can make the move to the midfield full time. Nice to hear he's also Lions supporter and has family in Queensland.

I would like to see that this year during the champs and also through the TAC Cup. Personally have others that I would prefer but will be one to keep an eye on.

He is a freak. Very unorthodox in the way he goes about it but the kid has serious talent. Could go either way IMO as a midfielder though. Needs some time in there to show what he has to offer.

We've yet to see our 2016 draftees play, to see where they will fit and play initially. Safe to say Witherden is viewed as a HB. Berry may start at HB with a view to move in to the midfield, or he could be thrown straight in to the middle. Reports are Allison has looked good at HB for the reserves. McCluggage likely starts as a HF before moving in to the middle. I don't believe McCluggage has the speed to play on the wing. Cox is still a mystery, but there was talk out of the club that Cox might be more suited to HF. Could Cox be developed as a pressure small forward?

We're still searching for a reliable partner to pair with Harris. McStay could be that player if he could get the idea of playing up forward out of his head and commit to being a defender. Depending on how you view Smith's development, we may still need to add a young developing ruck.

Like any team towards the bottom of the ladder we have a lot holes to fill on our list now, and heading in to the future. They're all not going to be filled in one draft. I believe we've seen over the first two rounds of this season, we lack inside and outside speed. We also still lack a genuine inside bull who can carry the midfield somewhat and compliment Beams.

As most have mentioned, we need to add to our midfield, outside speed and pressure/defensive small forward.

This years draft class has been hyped a fair bit, so there is a fair amount of expectation with it.

Darcy Fogarty from S.A. could be Dusty Martin-esque if he lives up to the hype built around him. Able to dominate in the middle and win the ball, or move forward and able to play as a third tall.

Jaidyn Stephenson is a bit of a freak at the junior level. But I look at him as the ultimate boom or bust, high ceiling low floor type of kid.

There are a lot of class inside mids, clean ball users and inside bulls up the top of this draft class. Lachie O'brien, Charlie Spargo, Jack Higgins and Hunter Clark are just some of the class inside/outside type ball users to watch. Cameron Rayner, Lachlan Fogarty, James Worpal and Luke Davies-Uniacke are some of the guys who will go win you the ball.

There is the potential for some real stars at the top of the draft, and for the genuine quality right through the top 30 odd of the draft.

McCluggage ran down Aaron Hall in space during JLT 1. I guess his endurance running is an open question, but I don't think pace is going to be an issue for him.

FWIW Lachie Harris didn't play in the first 2 games for Sandy, maybe injured.Might still be only around 170cm too, from what I can find out.
He played in the first round (see my pic below). Was selected on the extended bench for this round, if he didn't play then maybe didn't make the cut. He will miss most of the TAC season playing for his school.

Just that schools (at least APS) get first dibs.

Well there's three teams in Freo, Carlton and Suns finishing below us at this stage with how they're going but it's a long season so I see us with a pick in 3-5. With our first pick there will be a very good midfield prospect at this range. I think that we will also have to take into account two things. Their footskills as evident by our four 2016 draftees and also Fagan's Hawthorn influence and also the Vic Country centric drafting. So looking at that list Lochie O, Hunter, Davies-Uniacke and Worpol.

A long shot you would think.
Saw him do some training with the club late last year, he looks like a pretty classy act.
I thought he looked the most natural footballer of all of the father/sons there.
