Anyone seen much of Adam Sambano from NT? He has been selected in the Allies squad for the U18's even though he has turned 20 already. I remeber him from watching a couple of NEAFL games. Playes forward and is a pretty handy mark as well. 184cm 79kg according to his bio on NT Thunder site. Commentators usually get very excited when he gets involved, bit like when Eddie Betts or Cyril get near the footy in the AFL.

I dont think he is playing in todays game for the Allies. Would he be worth a late pick or rookie for us, parriculalry with our shortage of small forwards?

Remember reading an article about him earlier

Given that we have Port Adelaide's first round pick, I think I prefer to wait to see where they finish on the ladder before proposing pick trade scenarios.

At this stage we pick the best player at #1, see where Ballenden is bid on (hopefully after we use Port Adelaide's pick) and then use subsequent picks and points to match the Ballenden bid.

As such, I find myself barracking against Port Adelaide no matter who they play. Even Collingwood. Well done Essendon! :)

We have a chance to improve that PA first pick ourselves next week :)

Goes back further for me.

Pic not working... it's Choco Williams choking himself with his tie after 2004.

LDU finished with 34 and 10 marks.

Whoa. Might be firming in our sights, especially considering Fogarty seemingly didn't have much of an impact outside his time up forward.

Strange post from that guy. Why wouldn't we want another young midfielder? What the hell else would we be targeting?

Most opposition supporters dont really know other clubs lists. He would just assume based on the way we play our strength is our midfield and our biggest issues are forward and back. In reality we have lots of developing talent forward and back and not enough in the middle.
Interestingly even Knightmare, who I and many others repect and value for his detailed threads, was suggesting we needed another key forward in this draft at one point, on top of Ballenden!

The way Ballenden is going it'll be mids or mid types with our first 3 picks.

Was he that bad today?
There's very little info on today's game but he went with out a goal and supposedly lined up at full forward but he might have gone into the ruck so who knows. He really hasn't had that great of a year and has looked better when playing ruck by all reports.

We need a ruck/forward more than we need a forward so fine by me. I honestly wouldn't mind if he played predominantly ruck throughout the champs. We've seen the glimpses from him that you need to see up forward at that age and level already. Means we pay less because no one's bidding a first round pick on a ruck. Having said that if he does dominate and looks like a top 3 pick I won't complain.

Pretty much. Most people think Carlton would be after a KPF, but most Carlton fans say they need to target mids as well.

I read that post. Didn't back away from the opinion either, which is a little weird.

I guess it shows the difference between being a draft expert and a list management expert. It is awfully difficult to keep a watch on 18 clubs and their list needs. Then there's the fact that most of us watch all the AFL teams regularly so there are more people to call you out when you get something wrong.

Point being that I don't think Knightmare's views on list management are any more informed than the average punter's, despite his wealth of knowledge about potential draftees. I find it a bit strange when he gets (and answers) questions about list needs of particular clubs.

Perhaps they were assuming Schache wasn't staying...

Fogarty seems to have played himself out of form in the seniors recently. Hopefully he works his way back into some form in the carnival.

LDU seems to put up big numbers consistently & looks a good player. Anyone know much about him? Dandenong isn't really that country is it? Is he going to pass our homesickness test? ;)

Nah, Dandenong isn't the country. It's a half hour outside the city. Can't not take the best kid with the first pick though.

LDU is from Rye so down Sorrento way which makes it a bit further but not exactly way out in the bush for us Qlders it's like Brisbane to Noosa distance. As pulpdriver said if he's no 1 kid in the land we have to back our selves in (and draft his mates ;))

I think LDU would be leading the pick 1 race amongst recruiters at this early stage. He has had a terrific year. I think Rayner could push for the top spot with a great carnival for Vic Metro though.

Yeah I know. It'd be the closest thing to us taking a metro kid since the James Aish draft.

I agree with you to a point, you want the best talent but obviously they have to interview well, for a #1 pick you know the Vics will come hard for him so youd want great confidence they want to be there.

I'm kind of hoping it stays fairly even so we have a number of choices to go with.

I dunno. If we do end up with the spoon I'd like an out and out star who's clear number one available. Take whoever it is and back us to keep him beyond.

If only it were an exact science hey.
I'm the opposite is take the 2nd best best player if he was 99% to stay vs the best who is 50% but it's pretty hard to predict a player mindset 2 years into the future as well
