Gold Coast drafting a skinny flanker? Can't see it ;)

I like Quigleys selections of Worpel and Naish considering the players that were available at those selections and our needs but I would have gone for Rayner with pick 1.

I just hope we can manufacture 2 top 20 picks for mids as well as Ballenden.

We already have 3 in the first 18 so unless Port Adelaide make the Grand Final or Ballenden attracts a Top 10 bid; our 20% discount on academy players ensures we'll have 2 x Top 20 picks + Ballenden :thumbsu:

Best case scenario is that we trade out 18 for Charlie Cameron, Port go out in the first week of the finals and we don't have to use their pick for Ballenden at all

Would be delighted with LDU (or whichever other mid is the unanimous no 1 by draft night), with as many as we can snare from the trio of Clark/Coffield/Worpel. Coffield and Clark elite classy ball users, with Worpel just being a ready made tank ready to rock n roll. Could be the SPP of this draft. Hope he slides to us.

I've been reading a fair few of the draft scouting reports from amateur* watchers. All question Clark's disposal by foot and decision making. Coffield is climbing fast up all draft boards. Worpel from reports, and I've asked the question directly, is not up there with SPP, often said to be some where between SPP and Dylan Clarke from last years draft.

Knightmare has said Worpel's kicking is not very good. I like the good qualities he would bring but I'm not confident we'd select him.

So is it Clark's decision making? Because he's apparently great of both feet.

Reading Twomey's latest form guide, says Clark can kick with both feet, doesn't say he's good.

Doesn't make Knightmares top 20 so no write up.

#24 Hunter Clark

Inside Midfielder/Medium Defender (Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country)
26/03/1999 | 186cm | 79kg
Previous ranking: #18

Scouting notes: Has transitioned from a rebounding outside defender to a contested ball winning midfielder over the last 12 months. Coming out of defence his decision making and kicking could be better – and if he cleans this up it will help his draft stocks. Isn’t a big ball winner, but showed good promise on the inside for the Dandenong Stingrays. Possesses quick hands – a trait that can seperate him from others in this draft pool.

Last month: I was disappointed to see him play mostly in defence as he had shown some good signs on the inside for Dandenong. Had a few errors by foot throughout the carnival but his kicking efficiency of 72.5 per cent was promising considering it has been well below that throughout the TAC Cup. Averaged 15 disposals in the carnival and hopefully will move back into the midfield for the Stingrays.

Fair enough, was being way too presumptuous.
Nah mate, always good to ask questions.

I'm no expert. I read and listen to all draft posters, whether they post here or elsewhere. Many of the draft watchers speak to team scouts so their lists will be influenced from their discussions.

Wish this would have been kept quiet;), want this bloke at the Lions, if we still have a pick in the 3rd/4th round I would take him before someone else does.

THE FOOTBALL future of mercurial Subiaco forward Liam Ryan is likely to dominate discussion among WAFL circles in the lead-up to this year's AFL drafts.

The 20-year-old was tipped to be hot property last year after he burst onto the scene and booted 40 goals from 16 games in a sensational debut season.

But despite having plenty of interviews with interested AFL clubs, Ryan was overlooked by recruiters.

However, the Geraldton product's form has been irresistible this season. Ryan leads the WAFL's goalkicking with 45 majors from 14 games, and boasts an incredible highlight reel of spectacular marks.

Many were disappointed when Ryan pulled out of WA's historic win over a VFL state team in Melbourne due to soreness, but the star Lion's body of work in his home state can't be denied.
