I was talking purely this game but yes I like Dow too. Not such a fan of Rayner but I appear to be the odd one out with that thinking!

Stephenson miles clear BOG. Has it all... skills, pace, run and goal sense.
To me, absolute standout for Pick 1. Can't believe there's a discussion to be honest.
Also really like the look of Lochie O'Brien (great kicking) and Aiden Bonar. Would definitely take Bonar if he was there at 12. Great tackler, can run and kicks goals.
Ballenden just terrible though. I would be shocked if he had to pay a top 20 pick for him. Done absolutely nothing, forward and back.

Let's just pretend Ballenden tanked today.
Ballenden wasn't terrible at all, just quiet. Seemed to be played on the HF flank in the 2nd half oddly so hardly likely to dominate.
Stephenson excellent, would be happy with him for sure.

Yeah it's interesting, you wonder how much playing for about 5 different teams in a season is actually going to impact them, certainly wouldn't help any of them with continuity

He has also just won a Granny 2 weeks ago, so may not have done much training since then. And a bit of partying with the boys after the win.
Cant see any purpose in having 2 identical dinosaurs in Hammelman n Ballenden in the same team...............one must go!
Yep he is 189cm as well so will be a nightmare when resting up forward with his athletic ability combined with his ability to take a mark and crumb a goal. 189cm, athletic forwards who are hard to match up on both in the air and at ground level are very handy players to have in your side but when you also consider that he can win the footy on the inside and outside in the midfield and has elite pace to run and carry it is no wonder he is firmly in top 3 contention. Has a fair bit of physical development left in him as well.
I think we'll have a terrific player on our hands no matter who we select with pick 1 out of the usual suspects(Rayner, Stephenson, LDU, Dow and Cerra).

My observations from watching today's game between LDU and Stephenson was the latter appeared to be more damaging with his kicking, going long rather than kicking short. Very impressed by both and others on the day.

Only saw a small part, but LDU impresses me with the little things. His ability to get around the ground, his strength in thr contest and over the ball, ability to stand in a tackle. He reads the play really well too, smart player, is quick to move on and run to the next place and be involved in the next phase of play.
Not flashy things but small very good signs.

I am sure you guys know better than me, but which one of LDU and Stephenson is the lesser flight risk?
On a side note I watched the game today and both seemed bloody good, though I agree Stephenson seemed a little more damaging and composed when it really mattered (though LDU was very composed in traffic).

The draft won't be dictated by 1 game, lets be realistic here. Ballenden has shown some great signs over the past 2 years

What impressed me about LDU was his ability to react quickly when tackled and still dish it out to a teammate in space. Very quick thinker

LDU and Stephenson were standouts today. I was mightily impressed by Bonar too. Others I thought who played well were Brander, O'Brien, Worpel, Allen, Coffield. Thought it was a quiet game for Brayshaw.
LDU didn't miss a target by hand the whole game and put other players into space a lot. Has great awareness. Played well when rested up forward as well, clean mark above his head. Also liked the defensive side of his game; pressured well all day and made a few handy intercepts. He is exactly what we need, more so than Stephenson I think, and I hope we take him with pick 1.

Ballenden has showed some good signs and I really like his kicking. But for a big guy really struggles to get involved in the play. For the Enright side Hayes and Oscar Allen were very lively, Balladen was almost spectating.
I think he's got a future but surely no team is bidding for him that early. Project player for sure

Stephenson is a Lions fan, that probably gives him the edge with the go home factor a bit.
LDU was very solid and I can see the Josh Kennedy comparisons. Great inside and knows how to extract it. My knock is on his long kicking and goal kicking, which is pretty poor.

If so, that sways me. From what I saw of the game today, he and LDU were standouts. I really liked what I saw of LDU - has great poise and disposal (apart from his shot at goal late in the last qtr). Stephenson just oozes class.
I also like Worpel.
Would a trade/draft period of Stephenson/LDU (pick 1), Worpel/Coffield (pick 12), Cameron (pick 18), Ballenden (35& 41) and Hodge (pick 73) be ideal? I'm assuming Rocky stays and we don't get a priority pick.
I'd personally take that trade/draft period in a heartbeat, although I would add Dow to the mix for pick 1 too

Brayshaw started well but seemed to fade, could work out alright for us, if he had a big game I think it he would have pushed well inside the Port pick.
Ballenden was quiet, just couldn't get involved. There should be a few talls higher than him on clubs draft boards Brander, Hayes, Claverino, Naughton and even someone like Allen.
If the Cameron trade doesn't happen I think pick 18 should be safe, some good prospects that preformed well today that could be available around that pick Obrein, Worpel, Boner.

Didn't watch it, but it would be hard to see how these guys would go against Rayner, Dow considering they weren't out there. My reasoning is that we need a player who can extract it on the outside and has speed considering we are one paced. That put's Dow in 1 at my mind. However, Stephensen being able to go in the middle and extract it is also really good. Question marks on his kicking tho?
