Well then it would push back our pick 23 to pick 30
A worthwhile gamble would you suggest?

A good part of it may depend on what happens in the next 25hrs RE: SchacheWe will get Ballenden either way but do we take a bloke at pick 20 in a weak draft or someone at ~pick 30 in a strong draft or potentially weakening our trade hand next year. These are the questions we'll have to ask ourselves.

Hopefully the Sts come to the party with 7 or 8.A big reason why I and quite a few others have been keen to trade 12 & 18 for a top 10 pick and an early 3rd round pick.
Callum Twomey just on saying that the Lions will take Cameron Rayner at pick 1. His top 15 Phantom draft ATM.

Are there any other decent academy guys this year?
So if he slides to 25, will we have enough draft points to keep him? Or as mentioned above, would just taking him at 18 or 20 be the better and safer option? There is no chance we won't pick him up though, surely?
Probably that's y he is wideHis endurance testing was pretty bad according to someone on the St Kilda board, so that could kill the hype a bit.
Oscar Allen would be nice as well....but can't be greedyCallum Twomey just on saying that the Lions will take Cameron Rayner at pick 1. His top 15 Phantom draft ATM.

They can look at A. Bonar but not touch......he is ourssssssssHopefully the Sts come to the party with 7 or 8.
Doubtful they will give away 7 with eyes on
A. Bonar.
If you look at who we have re-signed over the last 12 months or so you'll see the vast majority are .... nowWould be nice if a few of these kids actually want to stay around.

I'm sure they do, and I'd be disappointed in the Lions if they weren't doing the same to every Queenslander in the comp. Other than Schacke I think you'll find nearly everyone of the top picks has or is about to re-sign. Clugga is in talks, I'm sure Witherden will be next on the list, Berry/Cox already re-signed from last year.Yeah you are not wrong but it just seems it is only ever the top end talent that wants to leave funnily enough. The conspiracy theorist in me suggests they may often receive some quiet suggestions from down south themselves. Luckily, the Lions seem to have entered the modern era these last two years or so.
Did he say that on Trade Radio jason pm ? Also when he said the Lions would take Rayner was that inside mail on his behalf or was it more of a personal mock draft?Callum Twomey just on saying that the Lions will take Cameron Rayner at pick 1. His top 15 Phantom draft ATM.

If it is inside mail and accurate I'd suggest that means two things- 1. Rayner interviewed really well with Conole/Noble/Fagan and put any fears regarding homesickness to bed and 2. Conole/Fagan/the extended recruiting team see him developing into a midfielder.
It kind of makes sense, Rayner has been the standout prospect this year and with pick 1 you generally need to back the club in and go for that top prospect. If we do end up with Rayner I think we should expect him to spend the majority of his first 2 seasons in the forward line. Hipwood and Rayner could be a very exciting duo to watch.
Added risk in doing that with top 5 draft picks I think but yep clubs definitely do it even with pick 1(Saints selecting McCartin over Petracca). It wasn't that deep. It was that he saw Rayner as the best talent and the Lions couldn't ignore him. Ironically he later said that teams could forego talent in search of needs and them saying they weren't was just spin.

As pulpdriver driver said, it was Twomey doing a mock draft taking team needs in to account. The first four selections were best talent available and Twomey has said since early in the season (at least since the U18 champs) that Rayner is the number 1 player in this years draft pool.Did he say that on Trade Radio jason pm ?
