Would almost definitely say it'll be LDU or Dow. Probably LDU

We are split on UDL and Rayner ( or who is left obviously )

It's an embarrassment of riches for us, highest draft pick for god knows how many years

ps I think you got reamed in the Cameron trade but at least you got your man, and he will become more consistent now he is settled, awesome talent when on song, blistering pace.

What makes you so sure? Also the fact that we hold 15 and 18 plus dealt with clubs holding 12, 16 and 17 means there could be a handshake agreement. A bid would then have to come from before 14.

Well hopefully it is at 19 or 20, who do you think could bid on him cotter?

Talking to other people who do the whole junior footy thing but opinions are divided on him. Talk of Collingwood at #6 is gaining traction, although I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I'd be surprised if he didn't get a top 20 bid. He's become a lot more important to nab with Schache now officially gone.

Have you read anything about the Schache situation? If so, you'd know his sit is NOTHING like the others mentioned.

Also the GH5 was a unique situation - our off field culture wasn't great. Since then it has vastly improved and we've lost just Aish (won the trade) and now Schache. Our retention is now on par with a lot of other clubs

West Coast and Sydney appear to be a risk at 13 and 14

west coast planning for life after Kennedy and don't have a first round pick next year, have bulk second round picks to get mids

Sydney I guess they might just back in Reid and we might be safe there

Collingwood taking him at 6 appears to be silly and Freooo surely do not take him at 5

Freemantle is the real wild card, it's so hard to know who they would take at pick 2. And pick 5. Realistically the top rated W.A. kid Aaron Naughton is rated closer to 20 than 10 on most big boards. They're going to have to draft at least one, if not two Victorian kids, and face the inevitable go home issues in a couple of years time.

Round 1
1. Brisbane Lions - Luke Davies-Uniacke
2. Fremantle - Paddy Dow
3. Carlton - Cam Rayner
4. North Melbourne - Jaidyn Stephenson
5. Fremantle - Jarrod Brander
6. Collingwood - Nic Coffield
7. St Kilda - Andrew Brayshaw
8. St Kilda - Adam Cerra
9. Western Bulldogs - Hunter Clark
10. Carlton - Charlie Constable
11. Greater Western Sydney - Jack Higgins
12. Adelaide - Darcy Fogarty
13. West Coast - Aaron Naughton
14. Sydney - Noah Balta
15. Brisbane Lions - Aiden Bonar
16. Western Bulldogs - Joel Garner
17. Richmond - Sam Hayes

18. Brisbane Lions - Lochie O’Brien
19. Gold Coast - Zac Bailey

Round 2
20. Richmond - Nathan Murphy
21. West Coast - Oscar Allen
22. Geelong - Matthew Ling
*North bid on Patrick Naish*
23. Richmond - Patrick Naish
24. North Melbourne - Lachlan Fogarty
25. Geelong - Dylan Moore
26. West Coast - Jordan Houlahan
27. Greater Western Sydney - Jack Petruccelle
28. Greater Western Sydney - Charlie Spargo
*Melbourne bid on Connor Ballenden*
29. Brisbane - Connor Ballenden
30. Melbourne - Ryley Stoddart

Alright, I'm out, I have no idea beyond here

Great
If I was taking an educated guess the top 20 may look like this:-
1. Lions: LDU
2. Frem: Hayes
3. Carl: Rayner (or Dow)
4. Nth: Stephenson
5. Frem: Naughtan
6. Coll: Brander (or Balta) need KPP
7. St K: Dow
8. St K: Cerra
9. WB: Coffield
10. Carl: Higgins
11. GWS: Brayshaw
12. Adel: Fogarty
13. WCE: Allen
14. Syd: Balta
15. Lions: Clark/Constable
16. WB: Garner
17. Rich: O'Brien
18. Lions: Constable/Worpel

Hence why I think that getting two of Clark, Constable, O'Brien or Worpel is a real possibility at 15 and 18.
I do believe that the top 12 looks set and that Frem will target Hayes and Naughton (real needs) with their top 2 picks.
Great n surprised if Bonar lasts to 15 or 18

Agree 100%, great post bill, we have all been deceived by the MSM/BF narrative, it gets repeated ad nauseam and then eventually the perception becomes accepted as the reality.

Although I will still be on tender hooks until McCluggage and Witherden sign extensions.

I pass on Bonar. Please Clark or Constable make it through to us at 15. Very happy with the other picks though if it was to work out this way.

Hi Guys,

Just interested, has Brisbane given an indication of who they will most likely take at pick 1? Most of you seem to want LDU. I'd be stoked if Rayner slipped to us. Thanks.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bonar goes a lot later than people think.

His bandwagon has got all the hallmarks of a BigFooty draft bolter special.

Would take Rayner 1
A mid at 15
Balta at 18

Gives spine Under 21 of Andrews, Balta, Ballenden, Hipwood and Under 21 mids Witherden, Keays, McLuggage, Berry and Rayner (plus pick #15)
Mcstay has CHB locked down for the foreseeable future. Can't see us drafting Balta. Likely to draft the 3 best mids we can with our first 3 picks

I know I posted on the Pick 1 thread about character/interviews playing a very big part in who we draft but also believe that a big factor will be in kicking ability as per the majority of our early draft picks last year. I've got no idea really but LDU's short kicking game is pretty well on mark, Lochie O'Brien's left foot is very good and I also think that L.Fogarty will come into consideration.

1: LDU
15: O'Brien
18: L. Fogarty
Ballenden

Good mix of inside/outside mids + Ballenden. I'd be happy with a haul like that

Ditto

We will take the 3 best mids we can get with picks 1, 15, 18. Simple as that. No baltas or bonars. Ballenden and hopefully payne as well. All ballenden had to say in his interviews with other clubs is i love qld and im very close to my family and the southern clubs will leave him alone. He must know hes a cert to be taken by us so he has no need to worry about impressing the evil south.

It's a tough one. As you can see, there are a few fan favourites on the board. Dow and LDU and Stephensen probably the big ones.

That said, last Road to the Draft podcast, Twomey was saying that Rayner is clear best player in the draft, and the conversation around other prospects being "in the mix" was more about media trying to build some suspense, or people trying to talk themselves out of it. In recent years, of course, Twomey has generally been pretty accurate as far as his top-end predictions have gone. I'd imagine that if the club goes best available, we'll take Rayner. If we don't, it'll be that we had genuine concerns around his go-home factor.

Club has come out and said they'll take best available, but they also said they'd hang on to Schache unless they got a fair deal, so you take what they say with a grain of salt.
