100% agree on O'Brien. Would take him at 15 in a heartbeat. Reckon he has it all; elite kicking, elite fitness, and seems incredibly mature and down to earth in that video. I certainly hope he is one of the three draftees we can snatch before Ballenden with 1, 15, 18.

Interestingly Jack Payne only ran 0.01 of a second slower than Hipwood in the 20m sprint. He's quick.

Yeah I floated that theory a few pages back and got shouted down. After dealing in these environments personally and professionally I can indeed confirm that these boys (who all have a fair idea of who is getting drafted) form pretty close friendship groups. Even clique esk you might say...

My guess is Constable will go top 10-11, won't be there at 15, but yes Bonar could be there at 15. Am hoping we look at Nathan Murphy at 18 if he's still there who's also Hailebery lad. He is a good athlete, is highly skilled and can be the classy athletic 3rd tall back or forward we desperately need. If Rayner doesn't go #1 it will be surely LDU. But I don't think we'll draft purely on need (pure mid) with someone of Rayners talents available. Am sure Rayner will be full time mid by 22, with 70 games or more under his belt off half forward.

Lot of people on the Lions board talking up Bonar, but he isn't getting that sort of attention elsewhere. Still not ranking in phantoms. Twomey did one on the last day of trade period, and he didn't make the top 15.

I'd like him - there's probably some potential there if he doesn't reinjure. Has all the markings of a bigfooty fave regardless of any substance though. Wouldn't be surprised to see him drafted around 15. Also wouldn't be surprised if he goes at 25. Don't think he's much chance for top 10.

The idea has actually been floated a few times throughout the season in regards to those three. Quite a few posters here would like it. However quite a few of us recognise all three are in likely to be drafted within the first 12 to 14 picks.

Why? Even after Hill left Hawthorn he still couldn't cement a position in the team, and he was the only real straight up replacement for him. He didn't really provide a whole lot to them when he did play. Other than bottom end depth I'm not seeing him providing much value to the list.

Players of Hartung's age and experience profile are generally like gold to rebuilding teams like Hawthorn. He's not being offered a contract for a reason.

Our reported interest in him over trade week really irked me. Brisbane needs to stop being a half-way house for these sort of has-been or never-were players.

At least we aren't coughing up trade currency for him as a DFA but all he would still deny us a list spot to punt on a potential diamond in the rough. I'd rather punt.

This really would be a case of taking another club's leavings.

Did I read somewhere he has an athletics background? Discus thrower? Fair chance if thats the case he has run plenty of sprints and attended plenty of sprint training sessions over the years even if he was a specialist thrower.

I’m happy to go with Noble and Fagan re Hartung. If they pick him up, I’ll back their judgement in. If they don’t then I can only suspect they have better options.

Is it draft time yet?

Last year I was all excited for the draft. This year I'm like, can we just get it over with so we see who we pick.

Pick one is all about who is the least likely to "go home" and not about who is the best player.

Picks 15 and 18 are all about "please *** let Clark slide to us". There's no Witherden, Berry or even Cox.

I've almost got more interest in who we pick up late, once ballenden has been bid on.


I'm so close to saying, "ah **** it, lets just draft Cam Rayner and Lachlan Fogarty" and hope for a slider not named Constable at pick 15.
