A lot of the pundits were insisting we'd taken Jarrad Redden. A massive glimpse into their incompetence there.

I refuse to view Redden as a bad pick. 129 games for us. There's only two blokes taken after him that I'd prefer (Beams and Hannebery), which speaks fairly well of a pick.
[Cough, cough] Rory Sloane.

lol that reminds me of me watching lat years draft. After Sydney drafted Florent at 11, I was sure each team between 12 and 16 was going to draft Berry. Every time Gill read out a different name, I muttered a little "c'mon, get there". Then started the same thing after the Bulldogs picked Tim English at 19, praying for Witherden to get to our first second round pick.

I was on the same wavelength.

Berry and Witherden were the two I wanted badly but I never really thought there was a chance that BOTH could slide to us.

Hi all,

pardon the intrusion, hopefully this is the right place to put this!

Just giving a heads up that on Monday 6th of November at 7:30pm I will be chatting with 2 of the Co-founders of AFL Draft Central, Pie 4 life and Bishop (who post a bit on the drafts board here) to speak to them about the upcoming draft.

they will be giving their top 20 player rankings, a in depth review of 8 players (4 each) that have impressed them the most this year as well as a 1st round mock draft.

You will be able to listen to it live via our Spreaker link (which i will post in here on Monday) and you can even use the chat client to ask any specific questions about players you might be after etc.

I listened to LDU on Sen this morning, i quite liked the way he spoke. He loves surfing, i'm not from Brisbane, are there good breaks around the Brisbane area and do other players currently love surfing too?

Also said he's happy to play anywhere but obviously, like all the boys from Melbourne, their preference is to stay in Melbourne.

Some good beach and point breaks both on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. About an hour drive for Gold Coast. Sunny coast a little more but worth it for the smaller crowds.

POTENTIAL TOP DRAFT PICK HITS BACK AT CRITICS

Potential No.1 draft pick Luke Davies-Uniacke has hit back at critics suggesting he lacks the fire and commitment to make it in the big league.

The Dandenong Stingray’s midfielder, who is tipped to be selected by Brisbane first overall at this month’s national draft, has been questioned by some quarters for a perceived lack of drive, but the 18-year-old got on the front foot to defend himself.

“I’ve heard that criticism for the past two years pretty much and I totally disagree with it,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“My one goal is to play AFL football and have a long and successful career.

“I’d say there was a question mark maybe four years ago about my confidence and ability to make it in the AFL, but with coaching from the likes of Luke Power and Mick Ablett, I’m fully focussed on this year’s draft.”

The smooth-moving playmaker’s commitment was evident during the 2017 pre-season when he started the day at 6am to get to Haileybury College from Safety Beach, before getting home at 7pm after school and training commitments.

Stingray’s talent manager Mark Wheeler said he’d be surprised if Davies-Uniacke didn’t go pick one.

“If he doesn’t go No. 1 I’d be surprised and he’s got no issue going interstate,” Wheeler said.

Given the Lions require midfielders it seems a sure bet given the teenagers ability to win the ball and burst through traffic.

I reckon we should take Brayshaw with pick 1, level of improvement hes shown this year, the balance of inside and outside in his game and his leadership he has shown, can be a very good player.

think its been quite rare over the last few years with highly rated juniors with a decorated 2 year junior career becoming the best players in their draft year. lately its been the late risers who have come out on top, ie bont, oliver, (too early to say tarantino).

Yeah, I agree. The more I watch his highlights, the more I feel like he’s right up there in that top band. Stephen Conole has mentioned him a few times publicly as one of the group of possible pick 1s. I get the sense he’s a legitimate chance.

Are they allowed to surf during the season? Injury, fatigue management etc

I have heard he is a Natural Born Footballer.
