I wouldn't know. I'm not privy to such information. Just repeating what I watched on video this morning.

Couldnt leaving school n making footy a full time job be seen as an upside, theres no question about his dedication (he also worked as an intern with the afl as well so he did have other responsibilities). And surely he has the same amount of physical development left in him as any other growing 18yr old. I guess we have a glass half full or half empty difference of opinion here.

Im with SM. He has pretty much dedicated his time to playing for the majority of time, whereas other players obviously had more commitments. How much more development is left in him compared to the other blokes who haven't been doing it as much as him.

What i see as a head start you see as reaching a peak. His stats for the year alone show he is a quality player. A bit unfair to have a knock on a kid because he has dedicated his year to footy.

Not knocking him at all. Just my opinion on what l would prefer. I wouldn't take him not because he dedicated this year to footy over schooling like others but because l would prefer others over him. We have enough small players on our list.

Completely agree, he may have given himself every chance to develop well this year due to his commitment but it doesnt mean he has no development left, and he is as good as he is going to be.
In a full time environment he will still grow as a player and develop further. Without doubt.
I don't see it as Higgins as having reached his peak. I do see it as Higgins had an advantage over the majority of his competition in the TAC cup. If every player were to have been in the same situation, would Higgins would Higgins be so highly regarded in the draft class?

Yeah i get your point. I do think that lots of other young players would have had plenty of extra individual training and coaching as well. So hes not alone in that boat. Ive just got heaps of respect for him and any young fella willing to go that extra mile. And lets face it, its only been a year, would it really make that much of a difference. He has also been working a job as well so its not like his free time for coaching n training is any different to a students. Good discussion, like it.
Zorko n bundy are ageing, wouldnt hurt to have another little one coming thru. Admittedly not the pace of those two but certainly has footy smarts to compensate.
The best case scenario is if we can pick up a slider at 15 and someone to complement our first 2 picks at 18.
Possible sliders in my order of preference: Stephenson, Clark, Coffield, Allen, Bonar, Higgins.
Likely to be available at both 15 & 18 in my order of preference: Worpel, Lachlan Fogarty, Bailey, Garner, O'Brien. (Any 2 of these would be good gets at 15 & 18 if none of the first list slide.) Personally not keen on Constable, though others are.
Whatever happens we should get real some pretty good potential to go with the likely pick of Andy Brayshaw at 1.

Yes I would have agreed with you and bet my house as well, but the recent concern with his heart issue has other people suggesting he could slide out of top 10. Would still have to get past GWS and Sydney though. I think he’s the least likely of that list to slide, but could still happen.

Did anyone see the Footy Prophet phantom draft today? The Lions fan who is a writer there went with Rayner, L Fogarty, Nathan Murphy, C Ballenden, James Worpel and Ethan Floyd - we couldn’t match Jack Payne at 75 who went to the Roos. Who is Ethan Floyd? Seems to be a pick from nowhere
Swap floyd for payne and that would be a solid draft imo
