I think it’s a risk worth taking. Hopefully Brander has been smart enough to paint himself as a flight risk to Gold Coast and Brisbane so he can make it through to 20 to stay in Vic

true. just think we are drafting for the future not next yr. atm we only have 3 pure rucks on the list, 1 is injury prone the other not ready yet. granted Hayes won't be either as you say but he will be by the time Hampson retires in 2-3 yrs (all going well).
Griff could play as a ruck but he's 1 head knock from giving it away.

I hope we don't have Hampson for another 2 to 3 years.

Clubs believe Balta is very raw, so a gamble.

Friend of mine is close to his family and says Tigers and Dogs have shown him the most interest. Although clubs may now gain more interest knowing he will be available with their next picks.

From my perspective, I think we had genuine interest in him until it became clear that Brander could be available. This is just an opinion though, not from the same source. Could we be back in if Brander is off the table? Who knows? Personally, I'd be happy to take both of them given the luxurious position we find ourselves in.

I'd have no issues going with KPP x 2, Ruck x 1 and Naish. Either way, we will come out in a strong position and will be a fun draft night either way.

So same friend just sent me a text stating Richmond have advised Balta they will select him if available with their first pick. Personally I don't believe it as everything is pointing to Balta slidiing and Brander is our KPP target. But then again, maybe we get both knowing Brander will be there at 20 too? This friend is very close to the Balta family so I'm not prepared to discredit him completely, obviously a lot can change depending on who is available etc... interesting viewing tonight either way!

Stephenson wont be around @ 17 IMO, I think Ballard and LOB would on our radar as well.

Looks as though everybody has been talking about the draft today

Well so was I , Speaking with a guy who has been involved in junior and senior football for over 30 years (customer) just 1 hour ago
His backround is mainly juniors but has been involved with clubs and knows alot of people who we see on tv involving junior players

Few Comments he made

* Stephenson wont be there at #17 and West Coast are really keen but even after Swans wont let him pass , I asked whats Richmonds chances he falls -5%

* Thinks Allen is our most likely with a sliding mid - Mentioned Higgins,Murphy,Bonar,O'Brien (said constable would be 20-30 range)

* Brander - I asked should tigers take brander at #17 incase he doesnt get to 20 - He's Answer 'IF' Brander is still on the board at 17 then he will be there at 20 he mentioned there are 2-3 other teams that really like him before our pick but dont have another before our 20.
* Naish - Thinks a bid will come between 30-35 (which put a smile on my face

* Hayes - I was a bit hmmm i dont like him, But he said thats a Bargain and didnt know for sure if we had an interest and mentioned we probably look at a mid but said a few things about Hayes that made me think.

He believes that Hayes is a very very good player thats been played in the ruck and is very good at Rucking but is really a genuine Foward that is extremely smart around goals and has the foward mentality as well as the skill, Didnt worry too much about the Tank and said it can be built up to a level that wont be an issue and he could easily becom a 50-60 goal FF if developed to be a KPF.

I asked him , What like a Daniher type , He said - There is no reason why he cant and he is definitely a hi class talent that's being extremely under rated due to clubs not valuing Rucks as high as they used to 10 years ago

I asked him 1 last question - As a smokey who would you take late or Rookie, He mentioned Jordan Butts and i laughed and he said why whats funny
I told him we did a phantom draft on BF and i had selected Butts for West Coast with my last pick - He laughed i asked why ?
He said he had an account but didn't post and mainly just read things
