List Mgmt. 2017 draft thread

I am seeing a bit of talent in the U18 champs. I actually seem to think there is a bit of skill being shown in glimpses of these U18 champs, not sure how many are bottom ages but I think there should be enough talent to last the top 20-30 at least

I am totally happy getting Nick Riewoldt and Luke Hodge end of year via UFA. Throw in Hansen as a cheapie UFA and we can easily go best available in the draft this year for the first 2 picks plus Naish.

Hodge can help develop any taller mids we might get in a coaching capacity to which he seems he likes to embrace lately on field.

Without seeing too much the disposals skills of the U18 champs I have glanced at seem good in general

I like Rankin for SA in particular but I think he might be 2018 draft
While you're at it, maybe we could get Vickery back. ..;)

Good young kid at willy ATM Lachlan Shultz would be a very handy rookie or may even get drafted, only 19yrs old very tough forward/mid strong overhead good skills

Well Coffield and Constable were high on my list - but reckon they'll end up in the top 10. Petruccelle, L.Fogarty and Balta the three I'm eyeing off. None of the other KPD are first round quality. I like Nathan Kreuger and he's another I'd keep an eye on.

Maybe Brander slips outside top 10 - who knows.

What do you think about Patty Dow?

I would be pretty pumped to land Petrucelle and Balta. They are my favourites so far

Really? Admittedly I've only seen him play twice but his kicking is ordinary

Do you think Brander will slip below Naughton, CHB All Australian. Naughton's kicking style makes Garthwaites look good. Brander is a bit of a thoroughbred.
And Paddy Dow just keeps getting better, any chance falling around our first round.

Brander will be a higher pick than Naughton for doubt.

Dow top 10, maybe top 5 by end of the season.

Dow top 10, maybe top 5 by seasons end.

Bishop, if Darcy Fogarty dropped to one of our firsts would you take him?

Not at the moment - Where does he play?! That's the magic question clubs don't even know.

Bishop If Naish wasnt a FS would he actually be worth us taking?
I understand the romance of taking a FS but there isnt much point if we dont need that sort of player

Depends who is on the board, god his decision making and kicking can be poor in the defensive half at times. Crumbles a little under pressure and goes for the miracle kick on a lot of occasions - burns his own teammates at times (and the team).

In the forward half, he has smarts and a great goal sense. Long booming right foot kick.

No doubt we match him, but I reckon if we put him in last year's draft for example he's getting picked in the 30s.

Where do you think other clubs will bid on him?

Naish at 14. We may have to get inventive with our two firsts if we have to use it

Sounds like we should have options for our first 2 picks. And Naish is thereabouts with a heap of others. So I'd expect him to slide a bit (on that rating) to after our first 2. The language really drops off around pick 12ish. From great traits to some good points. Always hard to guage. But right now it looks more like we could pick up 2 decent players + naish, than 2 possible stars + Naish. Not the draft to have extra first rounders - but you can't knock the trading last year.

I wonder if we can parlay a first this year into next year. Facilitate a trade and snag a 1st round pick in a better draft.

Why don't we trade our 2 firsts for an early pick so we can get Sutherland?

That would be the way i would try and go. Whether you could trade up early enough to get him is the other thing

Foxsports have Naish at 11

11. PATRICK NAISH

Clubs: Northern/Vic Metro

Position: Half Back/Midfield

Size: 180cm, 69kg

Bio: Richmond fans, get excited. Eligible as a father-son with the Tigers, Naish enjoyed a solid champs campaign where his standing as a genuine first-round prospect was enhanced each week. A classy and speedy ball mover off half-back, he also has the ability to push onto a wing and kick a goal. His dad Chris played 143 games for Richmond and you can expect the Tigers to match any bid for him around this position at season’s end

None of the talls in this draft are going to help us next year in the seniors .We're going to have to trade in someone from another club .FA Reid - Casboult both shit and will be overpriced giving Carlton & Sydney first round picks .Or try and find a young forward from another club with 2-3 years development in them .Who i have no idea .
